This game is great and work exellent on vista and xp BUT on vista you need to : -Right click on the ra2.exe /properties/ compatibilities /select windows xp or 95 or 98 To avoid that string error of vista compatibility -Install the " red alert LAN

Yeah. Good torrent, no viruses, and took only 7 minutes. FOR VISTA- 1.) Change ALL exe files to windows 98 compatability, and disable visual themes and Desktop composition 2.) Run the "setup" file (if you want the sounds to be as they should) 3.) Change resolution as low as possible ( And then change it back in the Options menu of the game) 4.) Enjoy. :D

T.T i did the following: unpacked the file ran setup.bat ran keygen.exe did the compatibility for ra2.exe and GAME.exe copied it to the desktop and did the compatibility STILL DOESNT WORK. pls help?

I have been working on getting RA2 to work on my dual-core Vista machine for days and FINALLY got it to work! I did not need to run as Win95 or anything. Just Right-Click and go to properties, click "Run as admin", make sure you click "Show settings for all users" and do it there too. Now to run RA2, just RIGHT-CLICK on the file and click on "Run as Administrator", and that should work. I don't know why you have to do that when it's already supposed to be running as admin, But I guess that just verifies it. Hope this helps.... Ollie

listen anyone whos wants thise game to work in windows vista u ahve to do it in steps: 1)The Installation file put it in Run as administrator. 2)after the Instalation Finishes the game would automatical found in the games file its a one good thing about vista. 3)you go to the destination folder now u ahve to do 2 steps 1)u put the main application to run as administrator again and u have to run in compability rememebr in windows 2000.and finaly u enter the game thats it please dont just blame it on vista ask people more

The game rus well, but 1 minute after i started a level or skirmish match the game crashes with no aparent reason. Then, i tried running the game in compability mode, and the game now needs 5 minutes to crash. Anyone knows the sollution? Well, I'll try a few more times

Worked fine for me but after some messing about. I'm using XP SP3. Download and unzip into Program files. Run setup.bat Run keygen.exe Click on the gray smiley icon (RA2-trn-Myth.exe) then run from 'Start' Works fine but the in game movies dont seem to be included. Thanks! :-)

I ran the keygen, clicked the Ra2 file as you say to do, i'm on a vista, and it says "fatal: string manager failed to initialize" So what fixes that?

yeah im with madbeastie...ive tried running the keygen a few diff times. getting diff serial numbers and i even tried running that registry edit thing thats came with the file, but every time i still get the fatal error...so there is some glitch somewhere....what should i do???

For vista users: all u suffer from fatal problem u have the solution after extraction run the ra2 file in the directory as administrator after that the game will never give you trouble but the games graphic quality is very poor but you have to accept it bcoz this is an old game but according to my view warhammer40k series is better than command and conquer series in every hole and asset hail thq and relic to give warhammer 40k

@ KUNGPERRY I have RA2 Yuri's revenge, you can find it in torrents. When I open ra2.exe, the same thing happens when I push network. But when I start YURI.exe, I can access network. But I haven't tried to play on lan yet. Also check this link: http://www.understorm.net/cnc/lan/ts_ra2.php you need to copy wsock32.dll to RA2 directory. But I had it already, and still network part is not working in RA2.exe, but with Yuri.exe it is working.

Yes Thank you so much... It works! I'd always have had problems with RA2 on XP and Vista; even with a legit copy! As everyone may have realised the Network button doesnt work when you want to play multiplayer; because it requires IPX which is an old LAN feature on WinXP. There is a LAN patch you can download from: http://www.understorm.net/cnc/lan/ts_ra2_lanpatch_1_00.zip .Just extract it and copy the dll. file into the RA2 directory, it works for me on both XP and Vista !!! Hope that helps.

ok i got an issues with the movie s...they don't seem to want to play in game or if i go through the menu the the movie s, they still just slide back to the menu, the network tab does this as well. kingdevilb I dont really know what your problem is all i can ask is if you are running XP or Vista. You should go back to the original torrent and see what the files you are supposed to download and see if youve downloaded all of them.I would like to help but im not a computer nerd and have no idea why urs isnt working. Its really worth getting this game going seriously i LOVE IT!

Hey Kingdevilb i came across you problem at school (yes i have tried to play it at school.... what a rebel.) Anyways I just thought maybe it had something to do with vista or xp but these problems are cropping up all over the place so im sorry i am of no use to you. You say only one file which is the .exe..... im thinking is that the ONLY file you have with the download or is that the only .exe file you have? For those who still want to play Red Alert on Windows XP.. It's quite simple; You only have to run the keygen and after you did that, you will have to click on the ''grey'' smiley.. And click ''run''. Still not working? Try to run on administrator mode or change compatible mode.. Quite fun game btw

Works fine for me, alll you need to do install is unpack the exe copy "unpack.exe" to another folder (keep original in install path) run setup.bat place unpack.exe back in install folder

Sorry missed part out find "GAME.EXE", right click it, go on properties -> compatability check "Run this program in compatability mode for:" and choose windows 95.

works great but to make the file smaller they took out all the sounds like "insificiant funds" and "you base is under attack" also they took out the epic cut scenes like in the beginning of the game when the soviets attacked the US. other than that it is a great torrent.

This game is not giving the Full content of Command and Conquer - Red Alert 2.. There is certainly no movies.. Not even the Intro Movie.. Some missions of Red Alert 2 is missing.. For Example the moon operation is not even in the game, where Allies go on the moon and take on the Soviets.. Let me show you what do I mean no movie: Go to Movies & Credits ---> Play Movies ---> Select any movie then play it, it will not play the movie for you, because I think that this .exe file does not have the movie content.. I think that is why that this file is only 200MB, because some contents are missing.. I'm not saying that this Torrent is bad but, it is not giving the Full Content of Red Alert 2..

You can't connect internet without legal copy but you can play in the LAN well. All you have to do just correct mac adress settings in settings section. Mac address must be same with your ethernet adapter.
