I recently downloaded this torrent and i tried the suggestions u made but it seems that my computer has permanantly marked them as .utl! files and even re-downloading those files wont work, any tips on how to fix this?

To remove .!ut: Right click the file, press "Rename" and backspace the letters ".!ut" so the filename ends with ".mp3".

Do i have to wait for the download to be 100% completed to remove that !ut ? If not I don't see wheres that, bcause when i rename it, it only shows like "Punk Goes Acoustic - 02 Thrice - Trust.mp3" and no !ut to remove although it is a !ut file... :S Pleaze help, I'm lame please keep that in mind..

Ok people, to chance the file from !UT to mp3 in Windows Vista. 1)Go to Control Panel 2)Folder Options>View>Unclick 'Hide extensions for known files'. 3)Go to where the torrent is located on your computer. 4) Most files should say something at the end that looks like ".mp3.!UT". 5)Right click, and click Rename 6)Change '.!UT' to ".mp3. 7)A box will then pop up asking if you want to change the extension, press yes. 8)It should now be a mp3 file. :)

I'm on Mac OS X and it was pretty easy to change the .mp3.!ut extension to .mp3. You just need to use Mac OS X Automator. It was a lot faster having the automator doing it for me that way instead of changing the file names by hand!

For those complaining about the !ut -open notepad. -write "rename *.mp3.!ut *.mp3" without quotes -SaveAs "filename.bat" in the same directory as the mp3's to rename. -Run the file, it will correct everything in a matter of seconds.

There are about 11 files in this that I can not make the change to .mp3 format for some reason. I did all but those 11. I right click and the only options that come up are open (which does nothing), scan for viruses, and send to. Does anyone have any input to get these working correctly?

Start > control panel > Folder Options > View > Uncheck "Hide all extensions for know file types" And then rename them with .mp3 All you will have to do is delete the .!ut Also, this is XP.

All the songs I have renamed to have an mp3 extension seem to work even though they look like an incomplete file. If youre going to repost something atleast have it playable after the download....
