This was a pretty crappy documentary. It really presented no facts and did nothing but a lot of name calling. As a creationist, I'm pretty dissappointed this is even up. But at least it shows what evolutionist have to resort to. This effort at discrediting evolution is really laughable. a 50 minute show with less that 5 stated facts and no references. ummm yeah... good job evolutionists!!!

I had to register just to comment on the ludicrous comments by the ID fans out there! Us evolutionists have to repeat everything thousand times before you sadly tick off one of your "facts" in your precious list of "proof of God" (currently 66). See link above. I checked those links which were posted in this thread, Jesus, very objective sources, how are scientist supposed to take you serious? What are your points? ID is science or God is science or science is crap lets sit together and pray and bomb every mtf infidel? If evolution should be traded with ID, how are we to solve the AIDS puzzle (which evolve, yes, EVOLVE, within a week, so that medicine doesn't work anymore)? How do you think scientists predict the genetic make-up of next years influenca (ask God? "Please, god of gods, ruler of the galaxy, thy name we are not worthy to say, please reveal the ATCG code for the influenca for the next year please, so that white-middle-aged people in this revered country may not be kinda sick"). Please stop this non-sense, we are not in the dark ages any more (at least not in Europe), why don't you just let it go? If science can not take into account the possibility of ID, and religion can not take into account the possibility of evolution then neither search for truth. Both just to want to hold onto their belief systems as they exist, right or wrong. I seek truth so I do not take either side. They are both just possibilities to an open mind.

Thanks ttn82, you've managed to pretty much show the accuracy of the Creatioist side by your arguements. Wolf to dog in 2,500 years, or about 1,500 generations, of highly selective breeding. About 40,000 years in human terms. And from what to what exactly? From something called a 'wolf' to something called a 'dog', which is, in effect, a domesticated wolf. Nothing more, nor less. Something which is still interbreedable with the original stock, and not either a seperate breeding community, nor compatable with outside stock. So, in 1,500 generations of specific, aimed and artificial breeding, for specific traits ( a massivly speeded up version of 'natural selection') we have, semantics apart, gone from a wolf to a, well, to another wolf. Evolution at work, indeed! All examples of evolution work this way. Fifteen million years to go from the skeleton of a small horse to one of a large horse. Mayflies, used in evolutionary experiments for over 100 years, due to their fast breeding cycle, even subject to radiation and gamma rays to produce as many evolved (that is, deformed) offspring as possible, and, several million generations later (in human terms, about as long as we have been around) and they have, in thousands of experiments, managed to evolve into, wait for it, Mayflies! Some strangely shaped, many deformed and unable to survive in anything other that test conditions, but still Mayflies. Not even into gnats, Bluebottles, Daddy Long Legs, not even into Richard Dawkins! Adaptation goes on all the time. Evolution has yet to be proven, other than by assumming that creatures, long since dead, that bear no or little relationship to each other must be related (via lots and lots of convniently missing remains), therefore they evolved. By the way, I am not American, nor a Fundamentalist (who have massively misinterpreted Scripture to show that certain TV Evangelists deserve to take everybody's money); I am English and a Christian Identist, as well as an Old Earth Creationist, so don't bother with the normal abuse about me believing that the earth is only slightly older than Rod stewart.

The debate raging in these comments should be familiar to anyone who has looked at a Creation v Evolution argument before. This is not a winable argument. Creationists will deny the evidence, and make up their own to support their religious beliefs, and the Evolutionists will ridicule the beliefs of their opponents and pretend that they have no prior bias themselves. However, we ALL suffer from the observer effect in this case. We are intimately involved with the facts and would all do better to admit this. The real problem with ID is that it is a trojan horse for religious beliefs. The majority of the public (me included) do not clearly understand the science. So, as scientific language and principles have gradually seeped into the publc domain, the Christians have had to dress up their beliefs with scientific language. It's a direct response to the competitor that is Science. I'm never going to be convinced by ID, because even I can see it is based on a desparate attempt to support unsupportable beliefs. If you want me to believe, ID is never going to convince me. But then it's not for me, is it? It's for the politicians, the judges, the school boards etc. so that they can justify their decisions to all of us as based on 'science'.

Only the simple thing that there are numerous different religions is PURE evidence that MAN made GOD and not the other way around. Sure, there might be some kind of "godlike" energy in the universe. I prefer to call it "nature". Nature is what made us, nature is what keeps everything going. Now if you want to call this GOD or not is up to you, but please DO NOT believe in ordinary religion, because the God that it describes, has never existed and never will. There is no paradise, no hell, no creator with endless power. It's a sophisticated blend of energies in various forms that by itself has no life. How it can form life is a question that WILL be answered, but it will take time. Once we learn how to create life out of "lifeless" materia, you will all have your proof! Until then, go waste your pathetic life believing all the lies you find in scriptures like the Bible, the Quaran and so on...

Hello to all! I am a Native Indian from the Wet Coast of BC, Canada. I am not a Religious Person I would call myself spiritual. In my humble opinion both sides have problems. Anytime someone seeks power or recognition then they are talking with their ego and not their hearts. First off the theory of evolution can't possibly explain how flight came to evolve. Did a species repeatedly jump of branches or cliffs for thousands of years. Their theory of natural selection would certainly have come into play and wipe that species out? Also when they point out how they can prove that species evolved. Who are we to guess how the Creator created this world? And who are we to put a time limit on his work. The Bible saying it was all done in seven days come on man. I would guess an immortal being such as our Creator a hundred thousand years is a blink to him. So perhaps we could be just confirming his creation with the fossils. Perhaps both sides could benefit if they would stop being an all or nothing theorists? The creator has made mistakes looking at ourselves for example. Regards to all, Bozo

As a christian with a scientific background, I believe that one must understand the context in which such works as the bible were wrtitten: Thousands of years ago, humans had little knowledge about the world around them and sought answers to many questions: Why are we here? What happens when we die? Is there an afterlife? How do you live your life on Earth to ensure you get to the afterlife? etc... Many religions have formed out of doctrines which have answered such questions. They began as stories passed for generations and were eventually compiled and written in the 6th century (for the bible's case). But now, we have a better understanding of the natural world and use science to understand it. This should not discount the bible; it is a wonderfully written book of stories and moral philosophy...but it's authors did not have the knowledge that humankind has gained in the past few thousand years regarding natural phenomena. The theory of evolution represents a "convergence of evidence" from many scientific disciplinary theories (from astronomy, geology, genetics, microbiology, etc...) which support it*. This represents the best explanation we have to account for natural phenomena. Scientific theories must be rigorously tested and these have survived the test of time--not to say that someone may come up with a stronger theory tomorrow: science and scientists welcome this. But to call a new theory "science," you must submit it to a "peer-reviewed" scientific journal. To date, zero papers on ID have been published in this manner and few (~4) have been submitted (and rejected). As of today, there is no empirical work being conducted on the ID theory. I encourage ID proponents to gain the proper credentials (PhD) and conduct experiments to either disprove the exisiting theories or advance their own--help us understand more about the world! But until that time, ID is not science. Response to DaddyHorseSense: Speciation may occur when there is significant selection pressure--but not always, it depends on the pressure: Humans breeding wolfs/dogs by phenotype would hardly be described as "highly selective." Similar phenotypic changes still do not result in speciation such as in human differences: each type slightly suited to their environment but still able to interbreed with any other human. ttn82's example was of common ancestry, not speciation. Even if this *was* evidence which goes against evolutionary theory (that allopatric speciation is not possible with some species), there is still a comparitively infintesimal amount of data which supports the theory. So you would have to prove it for every species *or* thoroughly account for the exception before claiming it as evidence against evolution. Regarding the mayfly experiments you mention (you neglect to name a specific one): there was no selection pressure to direct evolution in one way or another. Was were the criteria? Which genotype/phentype was to be favoured? Did the scientists maintain the flies in environments suitable to gnats, bluebottles or Richard Dawkins? Regarding your horses: The (smaller) horses that existed 15 million years ago do not exist today. A (breeding) experiment cannot be conducted to prove/disprove that speciation has occurred. So this example (specifically speciation) does not prove either theory. However, Hyracotherium (earliest horse-like animal) was 20-25cm tall compared to todays horses and survived as a species in its form for 20 million years** which suggests that larger periods should be used when discussion equine speciation. Claiming that the falsification of a scientific theory is proof of creationism/ID is a logical fallacy (false dichotomy). Evolution and Creationism/ID are not the only two methods which people account for our existence. And picking stawmen arguments, such as ttn82's and claiming that exeptions to such arguments disprove evolutionary theory and prove ID is also fallacious. All I seem to be able to find is preachers ranting to Christian audiences, never presenting a single convincing argument, just lots of name calling and self-congratulation on how holy they all are.
