Alien invasion was a complete surprise for earthlings. Several survivors unite to fight for survival every day and try to make contact with such "lucky" as they are from other cities, and to repel the invaders from space. Falling Skies was the first sign of an alien invasion series, picked up the fashion of blue lights (the only thing left behind a "Skyline"). For TV, it is plain decision has been particularly successful. Not having a multi-million dollar budgets and time to draw a "real" explosion, the bombing of cities in blue beautifully blended with the surroundings alien invaders. The latter, encouraging good design and excellent CGI. As for the action scenes, the fighting in Falling Skies reminds both "Terminator" and "Predator." "Falling Skies" are trying hard not to be just another TV series about aliens, but something big. But they can do small. Not even the high cost can help to the project (each episode cost about four million), decent special effects for television, the name of Spielberg's well-known producers and writers.
