De jonge advocaat Arthur Kipps (Daniel Radcliffe) krijgt de opdracht naar een afgelegen dorpje af te reizen om het papierwerk van een onlangs gestorven cliënt te regelen. Terwijl hij alleen in het afgelegen huis aan het werk is ontdekt hij een aantal tragische geheimen. Hij voelt zich steeds minder op zijn gemak wanneer hij telkens een in zwart geklede mysterieuze vrouw blijft zien. De lokale bevolking wil hem niet helpen om er achter te komen wie de vrouw is, en voor hij het weet is hij verwikkeld in een race tegen de klok, als hij haar ware bedoelingen ontdekt.

The Woman in Black
It’s the end of the ninetieth century and people have learnt to use automobiles, trains and even telegraph; however, a man is still helpless in the face of some supernatural occurrences. A young and successful lawyer Arthur form London who has a four year old son take on the case of a deceased owner of a huge estate. He has to leave his family in London and set off to the tiny secluded northern country side where he must make a list of documents which used to belong to deceased Mr. Marsh, the owner of the estate. When he hits the place he discovers that the place is quite sinister while its inhabitants are either silent or inhospitable. Some time later Arthur starts to realize that the village has some dreadful mystery which is not going to be revealed to the first came visitor like him. However, later when he sees a mysterious woman all dressed in black near the cemetery he begins to realize that all these strange deaths that occur among villagers are not that accidental.
