In the Boston suburb four-year Amanda McCready has disappeared. When the authorities stopped trying to find the girl, her aunt begs two private detectives Patrick Kenzie and Angela Gennaro, to begin an investigation. At first they were in no hurry to take on a hopeless cause, but the new circumstances force them to bet not only to their own professional reputation, but also life. The plot is strange, dark, ambiguous perceived emotional story that leaves behind not that bad taste and an unpleasant feeling that any outcome would have been wrong. The film, among other things, is about children. Or rather on the attitude towards children. About relation to the children, including severe males, which really does not catch in excessive sentimentality. But something breaks when they see, and the most painful, well aware that expecting a baby in a family in that environment - it's who does not like police officers to know and understand such things. And, like, with a sober analysis, you realize that the protagonist did right, as emotionally we did not take to his decision. Lest we think about Ben Affleck before watching this movie, but he laid a solid cornerstone in the foundation of his, apparently, very promising career of director.
