Perfect picture quality. But there are No subtitles, except in the very beginning but those are not english either. Its a pity, i have been searching high and low for the version with just english subs. Trying to watch the english version just makes it sound silly and lame. So this version is still very good imo. Brilliant fight scenes.

Excellent movie; it was thought to be Jet Li's last martial arts epic, but to an extent, you could classify the Forbidden Kingdom with Jackie Chan a martial arts epic, as well. Now for the down and dirty on the quality: Video - 10/10. A very good DVDRip; to me, the only difference between this and the DVD is watching on my laptop as opposed to my TV. There's no pixelation or skips in the picture as there are with some rips. Audio - 10/10. It could just be the background noise in my house, but it seemed a little quiet during parts of the dialogue, but nothing detrimental. As for the dialogue itself, I think they may have actually dubbed in the voice for Tanaka during his Mandarin lines because his voice sounds a little high pitched and his lips don't always match his words. Subtitles - 5/10. They're readable, but the ones included are just awful. When Huo Yuanjia's student confesses after the fight, the subs say "(did something to Master Qin's daughter)" whereas it should be "had a relationship with Master Qin's concubine" (after all, did you see his daughter? She was like 8 or 9). As for the subtitles off of opensub suggested by eintraum, I would give them an 8/10; they are far more accurate than the ones included (no offense to the uploader and/or ripper), but there are still inaccuracies, such as a few spelling mistakes, a single instance of unsubbed dialogue (about 17 minutes in), missing punctuation half the time, and less than accurate grammar (there are a few statements that make little sense, but most of the time, it's just a case of too literal a translation). Also, it's only two or three instances, but the manager for Tanaka has his name changed from Mr. Mita (or Mita-san) to San Tian. Again, continued...

Final post of this comment/review trilogy... Anyways, the subtitles aside, if you can live with a few grammatical errors (I only point them out as a writer, but if I can live with 'em, so can you), then this is perhaps the best version of this size as well as perhaps the best in the original Mandarin language (as opposed to the ever ****py English dubs).
