Twenties years of the twentieth century, a young doctor and his unfaithful wife, Kitty, are sent to a remote village in China to fight the outbreak of cholera. There, struck her husband's devotion to work, Kitty begins to see him in another light and then falls in love with him again… The main characters - a scientist and bacteriologist Walter working in Shanghai and his wife Kitty. The plot begins to unfold in effect from the moment when Walter learns that his wife is unfaithful to him and decides to go to study virus-carrying cholera in a small Chinese town, where once again raging epidemic, and take his wife with him. "The Painted Veil," about love, of course. It does not have any special or extraordinary adventures of the drama, but it is only a plus, a big pole. The film is deprived of the pathos and the deliberateness with which generously doctored many "love dramas", and only a few films managed to step aside, to be easier, but that only beautiful and piercing.
