In 1995. Having developed the theory that a person can travel back in time within the duration of his life, Dr. Sam Beckett on the basis of the deserts of New Mexico led the top-secret project called "Quantum Leap». Faced with the need to confirm his theory or lose funding, Doctor Beckett stepped into the Quantum Accelerator and ... disappeared. Waking up, he realizes that he fell into the trap of the past. Dr. Beckett takes the images of other people trying to fix what was once done wrong. The only link with the real time is El - Admiral Albert Kalavichi, a friend of Sam, who worked with him on the project. In the past, he appears as a hologram, which can see and hear only Dr. Beckett, pets, small children and the insane. Thus begins the journey of Samuel Beckett in time. He will live many other people's lives, trying to correct the mistakes of the past. And each time hoping that the next quantum leap will return him back home... Director Donald Bellisario came up with the story of the show after reading some science fiction novels and studied Einstein's theory.
