The Second World War, the province in France. Standartenfuhrer Hans Landa (Christoph Waltz), nicknamed "Hitler's dog," finds in subfield a Jewish family of farmer Dreyfus. He shoots all of them, only one 18-year-old Shoshana (Melanie Laurent) manages to escape. Landa would shoot her in the back, but did not want to dirty his hands. Shoshana went to Paris, where she began a new life under the name of Emmanuel Mathieu. "Inglourious Basterds" should not be judged seriously as a real war. It made for savvy audience. Quentin shot a good movie about war, as such, was not. According to Quentin Tarantino, he's going to shoot not so much a war film as the Spaghetti Westerns, as well as at the time he intended to call the film "Once in Nazi-occupied France." The film "Inglourious Basterds" in places likes thriller. The scene where Shoshana escapes from the Landes is "referring" to the same exact scene of the movie "Raiders." Christoph Waltz has received five Oscar awards for Best Supporting Actor, "Golden Globe" and Jury Prize at Cannes, Screen Actors Guild Award and the U.S. British Film Academy Award.
