In the movie "The Burning Plain" is shown the relationship between parents and children in different periods of life. Sylvia is a manager at the restaurant of Portland. At work, she is quite successful woman, but in her personal life - just pain and renunciation. She does not get pleasure out of life and feels no physical pain. Only hurts of the soul. Being a child, she saw as her mother Gina, was unfaithful to her husband with a lovers and Sylvia arranged a gas leak with the explosion to kill all lovers. Then she fell in love with Santiago, gave birth to her daughter and left him by moving to another city. Now, many years later, Santiago is in the hospital and asks her daughter and friend Carlos to find Sylvia. The film "The Burning Plain" at the Venice Film Festival in 2008 has won award of Marcello Mastroianni.
