coolworld have you updated your codecs ? i use GOM//vlc//power dvd v9 and all play well for me on my test bed sys = amd939 3500+ 2gb ddr400 160gb x 4 sata hdd in 2 x raid array gf6800{256} x 2 in sli win xp32 bit //win xp x64//ubuntu//win 7 beta 64 bit and i have not found any film files i cant play on this basic machine even runs hd/blueray fine ...so the best thing i can suggest is you uninstall all your media players and start afresh and then update your codecs and see what happens ...if that works MAKE a backup of you hard disk{to dvd disk}so if this happens again you can just drop the disks in the dvd rom drive and 15 mins later your up and running agin ..let us know how you get on..peace

coolworld i meant only delete vlc etc ..leave the win media player in there mate ...as for ghosting errrr thats most odd but def sounds like a codec issue and yeah i know what its like to lose a large file i had a 160gb hdd die about 3 weeks ago } full of films etc ..if your still havin issues ..leave a msg on here and i will check back to see how your doing .. and let me know what specs your comp is ie cpu gc ram and i will see if i can help .. peace..
