The kids from Coweta known as Crooked X canât even drive themselves to their gigs yet because theyâre all still 14, but the hype leading up to their self-titled, major-label debut has already landed them a special on MTV (debuting Tuesday), a two-song set on "Jimmy Kimmel Liveâ and opening slots for the likes of KISS, Ted Nugent, Black Tide and Black Stone Cherry.(EMI)

When their long-anticipated 10-song disc finally drops Tuesday, it will no doubt enter the charts at a lofty level, not to mention the hearts of head-bangers everywhere. Shades of Dimebag Darrell, Kirk Hammett and Zakk Wylde are boldly evident in the string-shredding histrionics of Jesse Morton-Cooperâs already accomplished lead guitar-slinging on tunes such as the mighty "Rock and Roll Dreamâ (which these Okies are realizing at an amazingly early age), "Adrenalineâ and "Nightmare,â which is featured in the hit "Rock Showâ video game. Singer-guitarist Forrest French has also learned his lessons well from the school of rock screamer-shouters that taught Phil Anselmo, James Hetfield and olâ Ozzy himself how to blow it out their pipes.

Look for these four youngsters from Green Country to do for homegrown heavy metal what the very young Hanson did for Sooner-bred pop on an international level in the â90s. The Oklahoma kids are all right.
