Vito, impiegato tranquillo e pedante, quando si accorge di aver subito il furto della propria auto si vede costretto a chieder aiuto a suo cognato Toni, dalle ambigue frequentazioni nel sottomondo cittadino. I due si vedono passeranno assieme una nottata nei bassifondi della città, alla ricerca dell'auto rubata, superando anche le divergenze e le differenze che li dividono...<br /> Recensione: Mio cognato<br /> Le aspettative erano molte. Dopo l'exploit de "La Capa Gira", da Alessandro Piva ci si attendeva un film d'altrettanta genialità. Purtroppo come tutte le opere seconde, e soprattutto quelle più attese, la delusione è spesso dietro l'angolo.<br /> Nonostante il cast di rilievo, imposto dalla produzione (RaiCinema), composto tra gli altri da Luigi Lo Cascio e Sergio Rubini, il film non riesce a reggersi in piedi per tutta la sua durata che per altro non supera i 90 minuti.<br /> La sceneggiatura di Giovanni Veronesi si basa su un episodio realmente accaduto, "uno sgarro" come l'ha definito lo stesso regista salernitano: una macchina rubata durante un battesimo e una lunga notte spesa nel tentativo di ritrovarla.<br /> I protagonisti del film sono due cognati che si sopportano a malapena, di natura così diversa da giustificarne quel totale disaccordo. Toni, imprenditore di malaffare si muove tra le maglie della piccola mafia barese mentre Vito, il borghese piccolo, goffo e impacciato alle prese con una realtà che non conosce e che fatica a comprende.<br /> I due viaggeranno a bordo della fiammante macchina rossa di Toni per tutta la notte attraverso le vie della città, in una ricerca che sembrerà vana ma che avrà anche il pregio di avvicinare i due uomini portandoli a conoscersi meglio.<br /> <br /> La città in cui i due uomini si immergono è una Bari oscura, sporca quasi sgualcita dalla fauna che la popola: prepotenti che si spacciano per malavitosi e malavitosi che si spacciano per mafiosi.<br /> Un racconto davvero debole per riuscire a tirare avanti per la lunghezza richiesta da un film e che la sola presenza degli attori che lo percorrono, trasformandolo in un road movie sui generis, non sono certo sufficienti a salvarne le sorti. E così finisce che anche i due si riducono a banali macchiette, marionette 'smorfiose', a tratti insopportabili. Ci si ricorda del "Fuori orario" di Martin Scorsese, ma non se ne ritrova il ritmo o il graffiante humor nero.
