Thanks for sharing this. Jefferson Airplane was great (even though Sunfighter is one of those Slick / Kantner solo albums technically not under that name). If you have more Airplane that would be great, but only if they have a higher volume than the copies I already have of their early stuff. If 320 KBPS is easier for us than FLAC, no problem! 320 is better for me so I don't have to convert. Jefferson Starship music is mostly inferior, but they had some good tunes when Grace was still with the band. Everything from 1978 on is wimpy. The group lost it's rock edge after that.

love the Jefferson Airplane stuff, if you happen to have Long John Silver, or Bark, maybe even in flac? That would be awsome, I only have the worn-out vinyl.

I'll second that! I have a few tracks from both "Long John Silver" and "Bark" that I chose to save, and again they aren't loud enough for my I-Pod (gotta have it louder so I can walk down the street with the headphones OFF and enjoy the music).

I just heard this album, and just a warning: Most of the songs are this album are really bad in spite of the name talent involved (including David Crosby and Graham Nash). Some of the music is dated even for 1971, when this record was recorded. Track 4 "Titanic" isn't even a song! It's a few minutes of the sound effects of ocean waves and the eventual ship crashing into an iceberg. As someone who never did drugs, I can only guess that hippies used that to meditate. There are only 2 good tracks: "Silver Spoon" and "Sunfighter".

they are the best tracks , but there are a few more real classics on there - give the album some time - ..... its a strange albums - caught somwhere between airplane - starship - and somthing else ????

The something else is "Baron Von Tollbooth", which also only had 2 good tracks. :) The way I collect songs is that I'll save playlists of only my favorites, discarding the ones I don't like. So there are 36 songs total from all the Airplane and Starship albums that I saved, but to be fair there are several Starship LPs that I never had access to. Do you have the two in 1980s that brought back Grace Slick? There was also a third in 1989 that was labelled a Jefferson Airplane reunion album. Then Grace retired from the music business, and now she's a painter / artist.

Yep, I found The Great Society tunes on Demonoid a few months ago. That group never put out a record, but they did make a tape recording of one of their live shows in 1965. That's what's on the CD that came out around 1990. I saved 7 of the 15 Great Society songs, and they're part of my Airplane / Starship playlist, which is 36 tunes in total.

A couple of the Jefferson Airplane songs I have are when Signe Anderson was still with the band. "High Flyin' Bird" is her best one, which was only released as a single originally. I know she also sang a few songs on "Jefferson Airplane Takes Off". Then she quit several months after her daugher was born, and Grace was reunited with the group and became part of it. Signe had a very cool voice, and I'd really like to find some of her newer material....which is very rare. There was a band she sang with for many years called Carl Smith and the Natural Gas Company, and I haven't been able to find any of their music. How about you?

i,m working on that for you - i get my stuff from either old torrents where they upload about 1kb a year - or from my mate in the uk [ who gets stuff off an old hippy we know ] - by hippy i mean he was in early 20,s in 1968 [ not the velvet trouser brigade that go by that name these days ] - with a little time i will sort out my act a bit , and get uploading more !!! - cheers . - husshuss .

I'm an old hippy! and I've got every Airplane/Starship/solo album until they got so bad I decided to bail out(Papa John Creach) the reunion album of 1989 is so bad I can't listen to it The Great Society did have an album out--I've got it!--it's called Conspicuous only in its absence it's on CBS--9 tracks with inevitably White Rabbit and Somebody to love--must have been released to capitalise on the Airplane--I've just looked at the label and it came out in 1968

mullionboy - hi !! - see that you found the flac version - my label system is pretty awful , as i do most uploads in the morning or at night - the '' conspicuous only in its absense '' - i have uploaded , but its under the title of grace slick and the great society [ not the music VIDEO version ] - also '' born to be burned [ only choose the mp3 version ] has also been upped by me - i know what your saying about the later airplane work - just too wrong , but i am working on uploading ALL my airplane/starship collection soon ripped at 320kbps mp3 format - can,t do it yet [ long story ] - but coming soon . i upload some different stuff , but my main intrest is 1966-1974 ''hippy''stuff - hope you enjoy !!
