I managed to just about get this running on an XP machine. However, there are some inaccuracies in the setup manual and it requires a bit of patience to figure out what is required to make it work (took me three attempts). After finally getting it running WITH the patch, it seems there's a number of files with incorrect entries (racestuf.lbx, maintext.lbx and skildesc.lbx, billtext.lbx, jimtext.lbx) which I did not have the ability to edit. In the end, I chose to replace the files with the original files from the boot disk and managed to get it running that way. I'm not the most technically proficient user, so there's a chance that I'm missing something. Love the game, but the set-up is not straight-forward. Be prepared to work at it. It definitely works... you just gotta persevere. :D

Thank you so much for this perfect torrent! Works without any problems on my PC even if it has Windows XP. Had this on CD before I lost it, but I must admit that this is even better as it doesn't need one.

I haven't been able to get this to install. I extract the files and put the folder in my C directory and run setup and nothing happens. After about 15 minutes I get a window saying the installer is not responding. I set compatibility to 98. I running Vista if that makes a difference.

There is some kind of problem with this game. I had to ask someone for a torrent on a different site with an actual working version of this. It won't even run in compatibility mode (Right click, Properties, compatibility). It just runs, stops running, and messes with my resolution. I won't seed a bad torrent.

guys and gals, if you're running anything later than windows 98, you might have to download/run DosBox. don't remember the website, but you can google it. neways, I did and it works... on Vista!

@ Kelps (or another reader) you wrote that you downloaded the game from another site. I have problems with the game too. From where did you download it? I'm looking also in general for some other sites which are the same good like piratebay.org. Please post your recommendations.

find the the orioncd.ini file in the "master of orion 2" folder in your hard drive. EDIT it to point at where the folder is located, copy that shit into the install folder for the game. then drag the "orion 2" icon onto your DOSBOX icon and the game will start, or fuck with the 95 version if you like that. its a very basic and COMPLETELY MISSING step in either the install instructions or the torrent page

My buddy downloaded this game recently, I think he grabbed your release. I don't really need it since I have the disc I bought back when I the game came out. Of course that disc is so scratched that there are annoying pauses of up to 5-10 seconds. This is one of my favorite games of all time. I remember begging my parents to buy a 486DX4 @100Mhz just so I could run this game. I've spent many nights up into the wee hours playing this game, even as recently as today. That is a decade worth of replay value. A word of advice to you new players. Either pick the Psilon's for their Creative race bonus or make a custom race with the Creative bonus.

I have "a bit" of a problem here - i managed to run the game just fine but the problem is my monitor is kinda old and darkened so i can barely see the game and the inscriptions.I tried to reconfigure the settings from my video card driver but it doesn't seem to affect the game in any way(maybe because it is an old game?). Could someone please tell if there is a way to rise the brightness level of the game?I repeat the problem is not in running the game itself but rather that i can barely see anything due to my darkened monitor. Thank you in advance.
