'Circus' is a song performed by American pop singer Britney Spears. The song was recorded for her sixth studio album of the same name. The song was written and produced by Dr. Luke and Benny Blanco. The song was announced as the second single from the album by Spears' official website on October 31st 2008. On the week of the release of 'Circus' [The Album], the single appeared on several charts worldwide due to digital sales, given the fact that it had already been confirmed as the second single of the album. It debuted at No.17 in Ireland and in Australia the song entered at No.15. Also, the song entered on the UK Singles Chart at No.32 based on downloads alone. Francis Lawrence who previously directed the video for 'I'm A Slave 4 U' as well as the 2007 film I Am Legend directed the music video. The video was confirmed by Spears herself on November 6th 2008 at the MTV Europe Music Awards, while on set shooting it. An exclusive three-second clip was shown during a promo for her documentary Britney: For the Record. A 30 second preview/teaser of the video was released by Britney's Jive Records-run YouTube channel on November 25th with a second being released on December 1st 2008. The finalized video was officially premiered on December 4th 2008 on Entertainment Tonight. Like its predecessor, 'Circus' has received favorable reviews from the media. Entertainment website Digital Spy described the video as &#34;cheeky, seductive and more than a little bit ridiculous&#34;, and said that Spears &#34;delivers some killer dance routines&#34;. Unlike 'Womanizer' Australias' &#34;The Inquisitr&#34; gave the music video a positive review calling it &#34;unexpected&#34; and quoting &#34;Spears looks fabulous in the video, its one of her best works yet&#34;.
