I must warn you: when i played this game last time (it was beta version), it had one big problem: interface. Jagged Edge is Jagged Alliance's spiritual successor. But. 1) JA was 2D. The whole battlefield was a flat terrain, dotted with obstacles (trees, bushes, rocks, buildings, fences, etc). There were no *hills* or *cliffs*. No up/down. The only exception were rooftops. JE is full 3D. Terran isn't flat. You'll see hills, cliffs etc. All kinds of stuff. Is it good? No. Because in JA you know that if there's no obstacles between your merc and an enemy, then you can shoot to kill. In JE this is not enough. Because there could be a hill between your merc and an enemy. And you couldn't see it (unless you spend a minute moving rotating your camera), because the game has no extra interface elements for you to estimate the line of sight or line of fire. 2) JA was discrete. Flat terrain was divided into square cells. One cell - one merc. One cell - one obstacle (some obstacles can span more than one cell of course). JE is not discrete (or it is, but cells are too small and aren't shown). You can move *a bit* left or *a bit* right. You can move anywhere. Is it good? No. Because again - you can't estimate your line of sight/fire. In JA you can guess that by being in a cell *behind* a tree your merc gets some cover from that tree. In JE there's a lot of points your merc could occupy, and you are *never* certain that this particular point will benefit from a tree's cover, or that from this point you can shoot the guy standing behind another tree. To play this game, you have to abandon any tactical mindset you had and always go for a sure kill - never do anything partial. Either you are hiding behind a cover (and you're making sure your merc can't be hit by anything) or you are stepping away, out to the open to shoot at something. Firing from behind a cover is rarely possible. Well, that's how it was when this game was beta. I heard that they didn't changed anything since then. Don't set your expectations too high. It's better to be pleasantly surprised than disappointed.

Damn, I hate unnecessary and poorly-implemented 3D. King's Bounty: The Legend is a great example of that too. I shall reserve my high hopes for the real Jagged Alliance 3 (now delayed until 2010? argh).

Hehe, LRN, you're a complete loser. SS, SSS and H&S used basically the same system as this game. And JA3 will use modified SS engine. So if you're used to your 2D tetris, stay in your stone age forever and don't even show up your ugly face into lights of 21st century. Yes, you have to use brains to play such games, but no, brains are not for sale, if you have been born stupid, well, stay to your Amiga.

No problem with installation. Extracted, mounted with DT pro 4.10, use serial, installed without bug (but it take time, about 10 min to install). Played about 15 mins, looks very similar too JA but lot of bugs. Wainting for patch. is your virtual drive a SCSI or IDE ? Try SCSI maybe...

1 Install with the serial in Procyon nfo. 2. Autoupdate with ingame updater to 1.07.001 3. Search for RUSSIAN cracked proper 1.07 exe at gamecopyworld dot com, replace the original at BIN folder 4. Download d3dx9_26.dll from dll-files dot com, copy it to the BIN folder 5. DONE.
