They use to release a "high quality" version first and later one that are about 300mb smaller in size. So if you do not like this version just wait a few hours. I dwnload it to try if I can play it (I have a slow computer) without to much "lagg" :P

.mkv is an mpeg4 package that uses h264 and 6.1 dts or 5.1 ac3 surround sound. if you want to play on your computer then download a free program for mac or pc called VLC(video lan client) it plays every format there is. if you want to play on a ps3 or xbox then you have to re-encode the file to an .mp4 or .mpeg4 or .mov good luck

This is rediculous, I have a 10 mb connection, and am getting less then a emule throughput with only a few sharers. So far the only thing I can say about MKV is that it doesn't like transferring. Plus the 350 MB downloads provide an excellent video quality in their right. Not everyone and probably a lot us will be sticking with reasonable quality compared to indecent download times for these HD files. Sorry, that is just the way the cookie crumbles.

EZTV, thanks for all the past 350 MB files, but I seriously hope you intend to upload a similar file for this episode as there is absolutely no reason for 5 KB transfer on a 10 mb connection with this many seeders and peers. I can wait, and so will many others.

350 MB file for this episode now exists. Sorry I didn't copy/paste the url. I immediately started getting my regular download speeds with far fewer seeders and peers. Anyone want to tell me why with so many fewer seeders and leechers that my download speed increased by a factor far greater then 10x.

this format is terrable not even VLC player plays it well, most scenes almost jump and meld, sound also isnt on the mark dont bother downloading go for avi or somthing more versitile.

#11; the thing is gateworld is pretty much THE #1 source of Stargate info. They get loads of interviews and info directly from the people in charge of bringing us Stargate. Unfortunately, it's run by mere HUMANS, so mistakes can happen. Not everyone can be as perfect as I am. Either #2 made a mistake, Gateworld did, or there was a change in plan. Either way it's really unnecessary to jump down his throat for being wrong. It happens. Even to you. Get over it.

#17 & #2, the official site for the show always trumps fansites when it comes to most current airdate information. Additionally, eztv never releases fakes. Also, shows may air sooner in different countries. Heck, the last full season was available via the web months before they finished airing in the US. i don't quite see the point in the mkv's. they're too big to make a point of storing them even if you have massive drive space like i do. so burn them? 4 per dvd? might as well just go buy the stupid retail dvds when they come out. i imagine the quality difference to be nominal though admittedly i've never downloaded one. and with major isp's like comcast capping monthly bandwidth usage it even brings the point home more that downloading an episode that's 3 times the necessary size is a waste of resources and time. don't want to sound ungrateful but why is the 350mb version being snubbed for the mkv leaving us waiting what....5 HOURS and still counting???? frankly this whole mkv vs. xvid/etc war reminds me of ogg vs mp3 and how did that one turn out? oh yeah just about every device still accepts mp3 and ogg got left in the dust. we had a nice little standard that was superb and convenient so why mess with it if it wasn't broke?

#23; I don't see why I'm brought into this. I never said it was fake or anything. Gateworld is a pretty reliable source of information, although they usually have U.S. airdates. When the seasons are available on the web before they air it's usually because Canada airs Stargate before the U.S. does. They aren't 100% perfect either, nothing is. Mistakes can happen. I was just saying that because #2 misread, or Gateworld made a typo, or the episode ended up being aired because of some cancellation or something doesn't mean people have to jump down his throat and ***** at him.

MKV is just a video container, it actually has even better compression than the MP4 container, and far better compression than the AVI container. The reason why it's huge is that the x264 encoded video stream has been encoded at a very high bitrate. I think you could get this episode down to at least 400Meg, and it would still look excellent. One group called "Yumi" used to release SG1 episodes at 960x528, encoded in h264 inside an MKV container. They looked great, and they were only 160MB in size! I'd really like to see things encoded in this format, TV episodes take up way too much space .

MKV is just fine... If you've got problems then you're PCs is all too slow ('cause it's outdated, has a buggy configuration, buggy software or whatever). So if you can't wait for the 350meg file next time, try to recompress this 1gig mkv on your own: Virtualdub, AviSynth and the K-Lite Mega Codec Pack is way enough to do so. Google knows the rest of it.
