terrible, awful video quality. nevermind whether or not it's HD, it's grainy and pixelated. Aspect ratio is botched, language is cantonese (must be an HK station). Waste of 3.26GB :(

Defiantly NOT HD, the AR is wrong plus the file size would be massive if it was proper HD, like 10+ GB. It was a good watch, even better in HD. I would download an SD version, doesn't do it justice in 4:3.

***EDITED*** hi I am the seeder, some people complain that this is not HD version, if its not I do feel apologetic about that, cause before I made this torrent I just download this in a Chinese forum, and it saids its a HD version, personally I dont watch HD video and I dont know how to define a video is HD version or not, so I just believe this is a HD version due to the origion poster in Chinese forum said that this is Chinese version. To all who wasted their time downloading this aim for HD version I do feel apologetic for them. apart from HD, I already tried my best to seed this torrent, I am using ADSL at home, the max upload speed is about 100kb/s, that's the download speed is slow... and that's why I want you guys do not limited the upload speed. the Quality is good. But it is not working at about 26 to 32 or something, which was a great part. Plus it ends with the entrance of the flag bearer of the country after "Chinese Taipei", which I don't remember who. So you will not see the your country or the country you want, neither you will see the lightening of the torch. Hope this was helpful. Thanks for the uploader anyway.

Come on! Please, someone please produce a high quality and full version for the whole world! A standard high quality 43 minutes HDTV program only takes 350 MB. The complete ceremony, from what I heard, is about 270 minutes. Therefore, a high quality version of the show will only take about 2.15 GB. Come on, Come on, guys!

Take a look around mate: There is a 4.91GB HD (720p 3300kbps) version by Orenji which is NBC/USA source with ad breaks removed and 'condensed' parade of teams. Runtime is 3.5 hours (1 hour less than 'live'). Decent but not brilliant HD quality but way better than any XviD will ever be obviously. Or, there is a 2.54GB SD XviD version (BBC source @ around 1100kbps) of the full 4.5 hours with no ads and the standard English BBC commentary (IMO not great - things ain't what they used to be at the BBC, although I dare say Welsh speakers will enjoy it). I have both and obviously prefer the HD version although the ad breaks are somewhat jarring even though they are removed. The ideal is for a high quality release of the hour or so of just the ceremony minus that athletes parade in 720p/x264 at 4GB, or the whole thing at 8GB ...

Just some info from watching a sample vid. before you download this version, know that 1- its in Cantonese not mandarin 2- its the TVB version so your commentors are Lee Hackken and Bobo 3- its not really HD and aspect ratio 4:3 4- vids have 3 parts part1- post commentary & opening ceremony show part2- athletes coming out part3- more athletes coming out & ending show

Well the source was HD (you can see the logo in the broadcast) but this file is heavily compressed. You also have to manually set the AR in your media player because it is stretched. Also, the second video's last chunk (the part after the studio takes a break from the US parade) is a loop, it repeats from somewhere around the Spain portion. So some of that space is just wasted. However, this torrent covers the complete ceremony, and has no broadcast errors like the jarring video/audio stutter in the other top torrents that pretty much ruins an entire segment of the show. So far it is the only torrent I know that has complete coverage. The quality may not be HD but it's also not horrible. Worth the dl and the ceremony is definitely worth watching. Of course if you don't speak cantonese then you won't understand the commentators. Might be worth downloading some other torrents just to get the audio dubs.

From what I heard, the Australian TV version should be the best "English" commentary version. Canada: CBC - Technologically inhibits/hinders HDTV ripping. Britain: BBC - Commentator makes/expresses biased comments/view points, which somehow ruins the spectacular show; Shot position is too close to performers such to miss often the grand/whole view of the show. People, if your situation allows you, then download at least three different versions to compare and choose. Personally, I have watched BBC version. I feel the same way as many others that the commentator did make some really negative comments. Positivity is what we need always!
