As Halloween soon approaches, re-visit this classic 1986 movie soundtrack
from Fastway!

Trick or Treat is the fourth album by the heavy metal band Fastway. It was
the soundtrack for the heavy metal horror film, Trick or Treat, released as a
studio album in 1987, the year following the release of the film.

Dave King - lead vocals
'Fast' Eddie Clarke - Rhythm/Lead Guitar and Producer
Shane Carroll - Second Guitar
Paul Reid - Bass Guitar
Alan Connor - drums

Once in everyone's lifetime there comes and album that defines not only the
music genre at the time, but also the mood and angst felt by every high
school metal head. This album was it for me, it was so pure in its sound and
yet powerful. Still holds true some 21 years later. This was an album for
guitar players, wanna-be guitar players, and anyone who ever wanted to
play guitar and impress a girl. The pure raw talent of David King, co-mingled
with the dead-on guitar rhythms and leads of "Fast" Eddie Clarke, made this
album a must have.

Dim the lights, light a candle and enjoy the high and low mood swings of this
album, you wont be disappointed. Movie cameos by Gene Simmons (From
KISS) And Ozzy Osbourne. He had the best cameo as a preacher revealing
the evils of Rock 'N' Roll.

About the movie:

High school outcast Eddie Weinbauer is writing a letter to his hero, metal
musician Sammi Curr. He puts the letter in an envelope and starts doing his
chores. He watches the news at the same time when he hears the worst
words to ever reach his mind: Sammi Curr has died in a mysterious hotel fire.
He is completely devastated. He goes to his friend "Nuke" (Gene Simmons), a
deejay who knew Sammi Curr personally. To take Eddie's mind off the death
of his idol, Nuke gives Eddie the only copy of Curr's last and only unreleased
album on an acetate disc.

Once back home, Eddie fell asleep while listening to the record and has a
strange dream about the fire that killed Sammi Curr. When he wakes up he
finds that the record is skipping and after listening to it for a few seconds he
comes to realize that there is something not right about the words the record
is stuck on. Having previous experience with hidden lyrics, Eddie plays the
record backwards but receives more than he imagined: Sammi Curr speaking
to him from beyond the grave.

Sammi instructs him on how to go about getting revenge on a group of bullies
that like to torment Eddie. At first the revenge is innocent enough, but after
a while the plans start to become more sinister until Eddie finally tries cutting
ties with the dead rocker, but Sammi won't let him. Eddie accidentally spills
some soda on the record which causes an electrical surge that gives Sammi
just the amount of energy he needs to get out of the record and become
able to carry out his sinister plans without the help of another; the only set
back is that Sammi can only travel through radios or anything else electronic,
so, no radios, no way for Sammi to carry out his plans. Eddie goes on a path
to destroying every radio he sees to prevent Sammi from carrying out his
plans. This leads to a final confrontation between Eddie and Sammi. Eddie
finally lures Sammi (in a cassette tape) to a police car and starts dissing and
insulting him until he breaks out and tries to attack Eddie from behind a gate
in the car. Eddie drives the police car off an unfinished bridge, short-circuiting
the tape, thus, destroying Sammi.

Blackie Lawless of W.A.S.P was to originally play Sammi Curr. Ozzy Osbourne
plays a televangelist decrying the evils of heavy metal music.

Trivia
"Lunch Of The Dead" is displayed on a cinema marquee. According to The
Internet Movie Database, no such film exists. It was probably made up by
Trick Or Treat's film company to avoid infringement.

In the stack of records the mother looks at, the last LP is a copy of
Megadeth's Killing Is My Business... And Business Is Good!, with a cut corner.
Normally a record with cut corners denotes that it was a radio promo, or was
for discounted sale only.

The other records in the stack were also real releases. Included was a 4 song
E.P. by U.S. heavy metal/horror rock band Impaler, Rise of the Mutants, and
Canadian Thrash Metal band Exciter's 1986 LP Unveiling the Wicked and
Savatage's 1984 release The Dungeons Are Calling.

On the walls in Eddies room there are posters of Judas Priest, Anthrax,
Raven, Twisted Sister, Mötley Crüe, Ozzy Osbourne and Kiss. On his locker
door in school there is also a sticker with Lizzy Borden.
Director/Actor Charles Martin Smith (The Untouchables) plays the high school
principal.

Co-Composer Christopher Young went on to compose music for the films The
Gift, Urban Legend, Ghost Rider and Spider-Man 3.

Anchor Bay Entertainment was all set to release a 20th Anniversary DVD in
2006, but due to music copyrights, the release was cancelled. Anchor Bay so
far has no plans to release any kind of DVD, as the only known DVD is a
bargain DVD from Platinum Disc Corporation, which is now Echo Bridge
Entertainment

In a scene when the mother is about to go out with her boyfriend, who is
dressed up like a Vietnam G.I., a microphone is highly visible above her
Some people believe the cover to be misleading because it shows Gene
Simmons and Ozzy Osbourne starring in the movie, when actually they only
make very brief cameo appearances.

Gene Simmons was originally offered the role of Sammi Curr, but he didn’t
think much of the script and ultimately agreed to do only a cameo as a radio
DJ. Simmons later said in an interview that he chose to play the role as a
childhood hero of his, Wolfman Jack.

Some DVD covers of the movie says that it includes songs by Whitesnake,
Twisted Sister, Anthrax, W.A.S.P. and Warrant. The only band that performs
music in the movie is Fastway.
