(When bowie was touring Vienna for this tour he said in several interviews that he got extremely interested and inspired by the art of Vienna based artist Hermann Nietsch, a performance-artist who works mainly with blood spread over huge white canvas. He is a very well respected artist within the German speaking countries and he is also famous for his art-performances, slaughtering cows and sheep in a sort of religious rebirthing performance covering naked people with the warm blood and bloody bodyparts of the animal. He also has worked a lot with the people in the famous mental hospital outside Vienna. Bowie was supposed to meet with Nietsche when he gave that concert in vienna, but as far as i know he never did.
