downloaded game and followed directions works fine i can play with no problems but every time i die or if i get busted on the VR trainin mission just as it starts saying game over the screen goes black and the application crashes and a screen pops up saying "metal gear solid has encountered an error and had to be closed do u want to send a report to microsoft?" and i have to then restart the game... and if i die again etc.. it does it all over and possible reasons\solutions? would be HIGHLY appreciated TY.

ok i just did some research and it turns out that this game was ported when dx7 had just came out and if you have to run it in software mode rather than hardware (e.g. integrated graphics) and are using direct x 9 or later the dang thing will crash when u die or when u get further into the game there are a few fights that will cause the game to crash and because of this it is not possible to get any further in the game unless u go and download a save file that takes place after those fight sequences :\ so for those of you who have this problem or if you are using integrated graphics i would recommend just DLing the PS1 versions and emulating it. and its not just this upload its the game in general.. this is a good sound DL so if your not using integrated id definetly give this game a try.

Just downloaded this game and works perfectly. I'm running it on Windows Vista Ultimate with with Centrino Duo processor and 2gig of ram on my laptop. A good program to use i found was poweriso, just google the software download and install. Mount the cd's as requested when installing and to play the game use cd1 on mount. I have found that the game crashes when you die though, but a way to resolve this is to right click on the game icon and go to compatibility. The options i have chosen are: run in windows xp sp2, and run in 640x480 resolution. After doin this, i have found no problem even if you die it just goes to the normal continue or exit screen. Great upload, pure classic :-)

Solutions to some common problems here: -Before the installation, be sure your downloaded folder(s) of Metal Gear Solid are in your C: drive. You'll get an error during setup if you don't do so. -When booting up the game "Please insert disk", make sure you have inserted the cracks. Go over the readme in the no-cd patch folder for better explanation. -When selecting a difficulty it asks for a disk, make sure you have you MGSDISK1 mounted in daemon tools or whatever software you use. There may be another way, but this way does work. I'm not sure why the game crashes when you die, i guess it's just trying to make it more realistic :P Thanks for the upload KryptKeeper!

-If your game crashes when you die, try changing the game compatibility to Windows 95. To do so, right click on your MGS shortcut, properties, check "Run this program in compatibility mode for:" and select Windows 95. I haven't had a crash since.

Hey I installed the game great and everything, but when I start a new game I have 999 ammo and no controls whatsoever.. I guess the ammo could be part of the torrent (*sigh, cheats...*) but even when I try to add controls through options, it doesnt pick up any of my keys other than esc. and backspace... Help plz

There is no sound during dialogues, and there is no movies during game I think that is fault of No-CD crack, because all of dialogues and movies are on the secound CD. Do you know what should I do to fix up this?

I am sure this is only a problem for me. You tell us to replace the other files with the files from the archive. I have no idea what you mean by that, could you help me out? Also, when I go to play the game, it says to me that I need to have the correct CD in the drive. I tried both, and none of them worked. I just keep getting the same message. I do have it fully installed though. If you could help me out it would be appreciated.

The two files MGSI.exe and MGSVR.exe need to be placed into the folder where you installed the game, replacing the old files. Then you will be able to play it.

hi bongman420, ur file is perfect, but i have a problem: after the installation nd the replacement of MGSI. exe nd MGSVR.exe the game should work but when i start it the Pc show me that words: "Metal Gear Solid has detected that your graphics accelerator does not support the functions needed to run the game in Hardware mode. The game will run correctly, but only in software mode." My PC isnt very old AMD 3200, 2 GB of RAM, as graphic card i have an NVDIA GeForce 6600 nd directx 9.0c so i cant understand why it dont work. Help me plz thx nd soz for my terrible english^^

game will not work if you have new drivers for your graphic card. for example, i have old agp gf 5700, with forceware drivers 6x.xx, and works fine.(sorry for my poor english)
