make sure ur graphics card have up to date drivers. mine werent and when i updated them it worked fine. exept on startup it would tell me my graphics card wasnt up to date for some reason, but it worked

I got this game to work on Vista by disabling the DEP error message. It works fine except for artifacts in the game popping in and out and it crashes if too many of them show up. Has anyone else experienced this and if so how did you fix it. I'm running it on Vista 32-Bit. It might be that my laptop isn't set up to run it but everything requirement is met. I have an ATI Radeon Xpress Series drivers running.

Hey if you browse the image file you will find the crack inside a file called razor there is no need to get it from the net but go if u want those files work as well.. Great game thankyou...

For anyone having the problem rockett_grl and co are having "the procedure entry point (some interesting symbols) could not be located in the dynamic link library luaconfig.dll",if you make sure you update the installation with the latest PATCH and then apply no cd. you will have no problems. End transmission...

Ok, i got the cdkey and patch but i get an interesting error message when i try to start the game. "the procedure entry point (some interesting symbols) could not be located in the dynamic link library luaconfig.dll" any clue what that means? Rockett_grl had this problem, now I have it too. Followed the steps above, its patched and I copied both files into the bin/release folder. Anyone know what this message means or how to fix it??

I have found the solution for running Homeworld with Vista. This is not a problem with compatibility just the high secured system with the DEP protection. You can desactivate it, just do : --> Start Menu --> All the programs --> Accessories --> Right click on "Command Prompt" --> click on Run as Administrator --> type this command : bcdedit.exe /set {current} nx AlwaysOff --> press enter and you should see the confirmation: Operation Completed Successfully --> reboot and enjoy

@ Peter_White I don't know why he made it so hard for you when it's so easy. First make sure you have the latest videodriver for card. Then when installed homeworld. Right click on the game pictogram on the desktop. And click properties. Then click the compatibility tab. And below you choose run as Administrator. And then apply. Then run the game and it will prompt you to run it or cancel it. Then click accept. And there you go, then it should work. I recommend doing this with all games and even apps. You run in Vista for better compatibility. A restart is NOT needed btw. If HW2 still doesnt work then it has something to do with a driver of your current hardware. @Killyou5 That is either because the patch is already applied. OR... You have the cr@cked exe file in your directory. Do a fresh install then patch it with the original files still in it. if it STILL doesnt work, then downloag a different region/language patch.

Just to clarify for Vista users... if you are getting an illegal program exception when you try to run the exe/shortcut, just follow the steps above posted by Er_Dehy on May 16 2008 at 01:08 and REMEMBER TO REBOOT AFTER APPLYING bcdedit changes!!! Ok, Steps Ive taken: 1. Mounted the image file 2. Performed Default install to c:\program files 3. Installed downloaded copy of 1.1 patch. 4. Replaced the homeworld2.exe with the no_cd one from razor1911 on mounted CD (could this be where im going wrong somehow?) 5. Recieving the error message: "Homeworld2.exe - Entry point not found The Procedure entry point ?SaveAll:LuaConfig@@QAEX_N@Z could not be located in the dynamic link library luaconfig.dll." Unfortunately Vista is operating system and its a Laptop. Any help would be much appreciated thanks. PS thanks for uploading and seeding.
