100% virus free!!! I could have used a little more of an explanation to install it...but I got it figured out! Installed and worked like a charm! after I installed the patches Passa suggested, however I don't think this game gets too many downloads...which is a total shame. I use WindowsXP SP2 32-bit, and I had to run it in opengl, I could not get this game to work on Windows 2000, or Windows Vista, both computers did the same thing, after I clicked INSTALL the installer flashed for half a second and did nothing else...wierd...

If anyone is having trouble installing I made a semi-walkthrough. First of all either burn the disc image onto a DVD, or mount the image using Alcohol 120%. The open the disc, and double click INSTALL, the insall is only about 35mb so don't worry about disc space. The game installs to C:\GAMES, and then after the game installs it will ask you to select your sound card (or something) but just disregard that, and exit. Then download the first two patches Passa posted, and place them in C:\GAMES\DESCENT, and place the files (d1 14.exe), and )d1 15.exe) in your descent folder, and that's all there is to that. Now the third one d1x 142.zip, extract the files into your descent folder (zip file includes: d1x (config file), d1x142_oglmx (.exe), and readme.d1x (dix file), create a shortcut of dix142_oglmx onto your desktop, and double click, and boosh! you're playing descent =]

before anyone says 'BUT THERE IS A DESCENT 2 TORRENT!' there are only two peers at 96.4 percent done. so it will download that far then stop . so please if you have descent 2 can you make a torrent or something.
