i got that audioproblem to... the game works after downloading the xp/vista patch from http://carma.jjunkies.com/ but still.. no sound... any1 knows how 2 fix? love this game!

SOUND PROBLEM FIX (worked for me): latest patch + XP patch, run "carma2_HW.exe" "not carma2.exe". Don't know if it works for D3D mode, I use Glde mode (emulated with dgVoodoo).

Just ok to me, just replaced the "CARMA2_HW.EXE" with the one from www.gamecopyworld.com And came with sound!!!! Great game at all!!!!

Just to reiterate what krudanze said... To get this to work: 1. Go to www.gamecopyworld.com 2. Pick one of the Mirrors. 3. Search for 'Carmageddon 2' 4. Click the link for 'GameCopyWorld - Carmageddon 2 - NoCD No-CD No-DVD Trainers & Game Fixes' 5. An expanded page of all the different files will load, scroll down and click the 'disc' icon that is listed under the file 'Carmageddon 2 v2.0 [ENGLISH] WinXP Fixed EXE' 6. The file is a RAR file (although for me it downloaded without an extension so you might need to add it). 7. Un-rar the file. 8. Copy the single file that is Un-rar'ed and copy it into your Carmageddon 2 folder. 9. Enjoy!

Followed that advice, but I get '...failed to start because smackw32.dll was not found' when I click on the .exe i got from the SCi website. Any ideas? And why is it a .img file?

difficult problem, simple solution --> the game is old, and works perfectly on all windows versions above windows nt, right? problem is, they switched to another control system when the went windows XP, and carmageddon is stuck with windows 2000 or lower. like i said theres a simple solution to it. (no dont reinstall windows 98) simply find the .exe file of carmageddon and follow the below: right click on the .exe choose "properties" then pick the tab "compatibility" there tick the box showing something like, "open in compatibility mode" choose a windows version you think carmageddon does work on. windows 98 or 95 will suffice dont thank me, thank my sisters ex-boyfriend who taught me this trick for playing older games like dethcars and others of wich i had long thought lost within the sands of time. since this trick works with all the other games where there is said "not compatible with windows nt" greetings to u all.

After i mounted the file in MagicISO i clicked the setup,nothing happened. Then i installed this http://www.visualtour.com/downloads/xp_fix.exe. After that the installation was charming. After that i did what was told on COMMENTS 16.....Happy gaming.... p.s. while in-game there is a slight distortion in the car engine sound...Is there any way to fix it? or is it just me?

Follow the COMMENTS 3 & also check the "Run in 640x480 resolution" under display settings if u have a mouse problem in the game menu

just download this file http://dl.gamecopyworld.com/?d=2005&f=Carmageddon%202%20-%20WinXP-Fix!rar copy it to your carmageddon 2 folder and rewrite the old file. it works

well i see that link doesnt work so go to www.gamecopyworld.com, type carmageddon 2, choose GameCopyWorld - Carmageddon 2 - NoCD No-CD No-DVD Trainers & Game Fixes, then Carmageddon 2 v2.0 [ENGLISH] WinXP Fixed EXE and download, then unrar the file with winrar and do what i wrote before.

Agreed, I attached the .img to Daemon tools and I also tried Alcohol. The startup box appears easily enough. I click onto "INSTALL" then the startup popup goes away. And thats it. Nothing else happens. I cant even install this. whats the go?
