The bad news is soon you will have to replace an electronic gadget in your
house, The good news is you will not have to buy yet another copy of the White
Album in yet another media. HDTV, not to be confused by ADHD, is a vast
improvement on the US television broadcast standard NTSC (Never Twice the Same
Color). However, getting used to the high quality is not the problem. Getting
used to the presently high price is. The authors, encourage you to read up on
the technology a bit, shopping very carefully, and getting what you need to make
sure yours is a proper HDTV experience. They describe HDTV channels and
programs, getting into DVDs and gaming consoles, and the art of developing and
actually enjoying sensory overload. For those of us who still cherish the White
Album on LPs, the authors include a bit of nostalgia about the pre-HDTV days as
well.
