@Quemeros: you are using "initial seeding"-option in your client (might be called "super seeding" or something similarly perverse) ... if you're not, doing so *would* ease up the strain on your bandwidth and possibly get the ball rolling a bit faster :)

This is a real FLAC encoding from original source (not a transcoded one!). Just try to encode in MP3, you'll see the resulting bitrate.. :) Anyway I'm guessing why some songs are so saturated...clearly this is not a releaser fault, it's a metallica (or their producer) decision, which I really don't approve!

Too bad sound quality is so low that it really makes you think twice before buying it, I hoped final CD will sound better than those pre release samples, no way, it's the same loud shit. Producer screwed his job, but I don't think guys form Metallica are able to hear any difference, so many years of loud concerting probably destroyed their hearing, so they don't know what are those people complain about.

I must write this out, since I always thought that 320k MP3 were good quality. I was very surprised to see that where this release has arrow-straight decaying clipping (that appears to be caused by a compressor-happy sound engineer doing the mastering), the 320k MP3 had noticeable "8bit random noise" at the same position. I will never look at my audio collection the same way again. Once again, Quemeros... you're my man! Great release! Too bad the album itself lacks in sound quality :(

Soorry another question came up on my mind. If someone get the vynil, the quality can be much better? how can you say that the problem is in the mastering of the album?

@shemyaza666, @fran_xalooo: The program I use is Audacity. A very simple (no unnecessary bells and whistles attached) free audio editor for Linux. Pretty much any audio editor these days has all the necessary functions; spectograph displays, audio range spectral view, and the good old zoom in/zoom out :) About the vinyl... in theory, since vinyl is a analog media, it might contain the original waveforms more accurately than cd. However, I believe that Metallica has used the same digital master for creating the vinyls than for the cds. So... no help there; if it clips, it clips - and when it does clip, the audio is more or less ruined at that point.

Don't bother with this 1. It sounds like shit, just like the retail CD. Gave me a headache and listenfatugue sets in after 2 minutes. It clips like crazy most of the time.
