I'm not a classical music snob or anything, but even I know that 128kbps mp3s are atrocious for this kind of music. Or any music that matters.

*shrugs* I could say that I was sorry that you were disappointed, but I'd be lying. I can't tell the difference between the original CDs and the MP3s, and I suspect that many people who have or are downloading this right now can't tell the difference either. No one is making you download this torrent, thus your complaint about the bit rate is pointless.

ChaoticEvil: allow me to put in my few pfennigs worth: of course, you are absolutely right. There is little audible difference between the original studio recording and the resultant upload, from whatever source. What young friend kialan may fail to appreciate is that not every "bit" of music is going to arrive exactly how he/she expects, or at the speed he/she expects. What should happen, young friend kialan, is that you will eventually obtain some of the best MUSIC ever composed. You will not have to pay for this. If this MUSIC does not "fit the bill" then don't listen/save it, that's fine. I shall look forward to your alternative suggestions. Case you wonder why I say "young friend", well, I'm 60 years of age, got more music than you can shake a stick at!

Well i can certainly tell the difference between 128 kbs and 320kbs which is a regular cd. Most likely this was ripped in 128kbs because at 320kbs this torrent would probably be like 4 or 5 gig. I will dl this because it is a great collection. Nice up, thanks ChaoticEvil

severed1314: "... 320kbs which is a regular cd" Just to point out that 320kbps is only "near CD". A standard piece of CD music has a bitrate of 1411.2kbps (stereo), at standard sampling rate 44.1kHz. So if you're gonna use lossy formats like MP3 in your music collection there's little point in discussing about the bitrate. MP3 is a highly compressed audio format to begin with. Generally, 192kbps is taken as the transition point between average - or I would say "heterogeneous" - quality and good or "transparent" quality. Thank you ChaoticEvil for the upload!
