Very few acts can bring words to the breath of their enraptured live
audience like mind-blowing and unmatched; the Human Flight Committee
has done just that. With uncompromising energy and pertinacious drive,
the band didn't creep onto the New England music scene in 2002, they
exploded. The group has maintained their ambition through lineup changes
and other expected struggles; in turn, making them one of the top drawing
bands in New England. The bands unwillingness to adapt their art for
what the popular sound may be, has made them elite among the common
outfit of independent rock. The band consists of Aaron Shelton (lead
vocals and organ), Chris Shelton (vocals and bass), Garret Henderson
(drums), and Chris Alfieri (guitar). In 2005 HFC released Small Business
Solutions on Renfield Records and received rave reviews, including two big
thumbs up from Alternative Press. The EP quickly acquired new fans all over
the country eager to hear something in-your-face and innovative at a time
where the rock scene was inundated with dime a dozen emo bands all starting
to sound alike.
With the EP release and non-stop touring, HFC quickly expanded their fan
base to the national level, touring with Triple Crown Recording artists The
Receiving End of Sirens and multiple tour dates with bands such as mewithoutYou,
The Junior Varsity, Bleed The Dream, and The Firescape, and sharing the stage
with acts such as The Pink Spiders, The Adored, Q and not U, Norma Jean, Engine
Down, Spitalfield, Action Action, Gatsby's American Dream, Haste The Day, Silent
Drive, Showbread and many more. The band have become regulars at large festivals
and national tours including Cornerstone, Warped Tour, Inside Out Soul Festival,
and Fall Quest.
Fans have been anxiously awaiting HFC's forthcoming release: Oh, When the
Animals Unionize on Blue Duck Records with bated breath (Release date, March
11th 2008). The record features 12 intense, Heavy yet Catchy, thought provoking
and musically/lyrically mature songs. Mastered by Emily Lazar (mewithoutyou,
The Shins) and featuring guest vocals by Stephen Christian (Anberlin), the band
has held nothing back and has come up with a masterpiece over a year in the
making. HFC will be visable and audible for many soon-to-be fans with their first
professionally produced video for "She's a Car Destroyer" shot by Voda Film's
Noah Carlson (who's Fireflight video was recently featured on NBC's Bionic Woman).
The band will full page ads in HM magazine as well as Alternative Press early this
year and a heavy push for college radio play with their first single, "She's a Car
Destroyer". On the road again in 2008, HFC will be on tour with Burden of a Day,
Every Bridge Burned, Once Nothing and A Plea for Purging in February and March.
