All fairly obvious errors, but it is nice to see someone attempting to get more people using understandable grammar instead of the spurge of words I encounter on a daily basic during written communication(when did "i thoht u neded it buy 3" become acceptable in a office memo?). Oh, and this is a slightly better wording of the affect/effect explanation in the book: To affect something is to change or influence it, To effect something is a rather formal way of saying `to make it happen'. So your book may have an effect upon the readership's grammar, or it may affect the readership in some way. The book causes a change in grammar, or the book has an effect upon the readers (or their grammatical skills), but does not necessarily cause a change.

This is a good book. Theirs to many idiots who really havent got a clue about correct grammer use; So this will go some way too correcting that, hopefully1 we shall see.

@ onlyanal You're bad man But you're right, one looks at the majority of comments here and gets the overall picture. Worst yet if their native language is indeed the (increasingly) universal english. Blame it on the cellular sms, it's the illiterate's dream the Satanic nightmare of all grammar teachers

"That" can be used in place of "who" or "which" in almost all cases. If one is not sure which (can't be in cases like this, hehe) one to use, "that" is often the best choice. I probably don't have a fantastic grammar myself, but since English is my second language, I'm happy with it. As a Norwegian, I can tell you that English is not the only language that is coming to a revolution in a negative way. A lot of people here have way too many mistakes and don't even try to write properly or learn from their mistakes. My sister told me that it has been proposed that the English language should be changed so it looks more like it sounds. I'm all against that proposal. It would just look wrong, no matter what the excuses would be. I just wonder what will happen when people with bad language become language teachers.

i'm loving how the same posters who 'lol' and 'rofl' in all other instances get all pretentious when commenting on a grammar-related torrent... it's the internet for christ's sakes, you don't have to use semicolons
