I've downloaded and installed the game. Downloaded several cracks and I keep getting the same error. Every time I try to run the game it just says "Mass Effect has stopped working." I've been checking a lot of forums and have found no one else is having this problem. What am I doing wrong?

The crack IS the problem, although it may be a problem for only certain video cards. I own an Nvidia 8800 and purchased the game but used this same crack to avoid having to put the disc in, and experienced both the Galaxy Map problem as well as the quicksave problem. I swapped the exe back to the original, put in the disc, fire it up, both bugs fixed. That's pretty definitive imho that the crack has a problem.

@ Cranion...& Eonxl....I found a solution to that program not responding problem.....go into the mass effect folder...and then binaries.....right click the masseffect.exe file and hit RUN as ADMINISTRATOR.....that worked for me....another thing u can do is go into control panel and disable account controls...let me know if this fixed the issue..thanks

Guys i dont wanna say this any more times so listen up!!!! Every single Crack or Keygen get noticed by the virus detecting programs too be a virus i promise there is no virus!!! it may be wrong at it so the game shuts down but ther is no VIRUS!!! People who have this "MassEffect.exe has stopped working" problem, when you try to run ME. Try turning off UAC(User account control) and then reinstall the game, it worked for me.

Im too lazy to do this but listen. Has anyone tried a clean install of the game with the new crack or are you just replacing the one over the other? Im thinking its worth a shot, at some point it said "your game has been compromised please reinstall." Maybe at that point the galaxy map self destructs lol and you need to reinstall.

Here's som info to the crackers. Dont know if you allready know or if it helps. It seems that the game sets a InvalidBuild(or nInvalidBuild=1) variable to 1 in the BIOengine.inf, every time the game starts when using a crack. Maybe the solution is to make this variable stay 0.

Of course it's detected by the AntiVirus. It's an illegal piece of software the allows games to be run so it WILL show up as a ****in trojan FFS you guys a ****in bunch of ****s. Try using better Anti-virus before you accuse a file of being infected. While I have no proof that it's not (I have neither downloaded this nor scanned it because I still have 4 hours left on the actual ISO), both AVG and Avast! give false positives more so than better scanners like NOD32 or Kaspersky when dealing with cracks, keygens, and such. Also, try a site like virscan.org, which will scan a single file with numerous virus scanners, not just one and give you the report from each. Just use your best judgment when downloading and running cracks/keygens. I do not stand behind the uploader's claims that it's not a virus. If it's a new game or program, then more likely than not, it will come up as a trojan when scanned (possibly a false-positive)... if it's an older program or game and the keygen/crack still comes up as a virus/trojan, then it probably is.

If you are so st0pid as to trust only one virus scanner you deserve the infections you get. Keygens are notorious for being infected. In fact I don't even run them on my computer, I run them in a sandboxed virtual machine AND run test them in a multi-engine scanner. Be smart, use a multi-engine virus scanner. JFGI P.S. I downloaded extracted, the files, and clicked both the crack and the keygen and nothing happened. cracks and .EXEs are notorious for being considered trojans and viruses. I downloaded Team Fortress 2 yesterday and the .EXE for that was considered a virus by avast, it's not. I downloaded Gears of War from The One Eyed Dude and something in that was caught as a virus, it isn't. I can't 100% confirm this doesn't have a trojan in it as it might have infected my computer in a way that simply wasn't noticable by me but I'm almost certain it's clean. One question to the guy who uploaded it, when I try to open the keygen it says I don't have the proper access to open this file. I'm the administrator on this computer so I don't know why it would be saying that, Any ideas?

Well, you will be able to play the game for about 1 hour, until you get to a part where you are given a ship, once on the ship you need to access the galaxy map. With both cracks this is not possible, and you cannot progress past this point, becuase you need to use to galaxy map in order to select a destination to travel to. Well the Galaxy map dose'nt work with Reloaded crack same with Detonation crack. And clicking the right mouse button fast when you load Galaxy map dose fix the map for 1st part in the game, but when you get to your destination in the galaxy, you have to pick planet where to land and that part is broken, tryed many things and its a no go... Guess we need to wait longer for a better crack... Tested on 8600GT 256 with 175.16_geforce_winxp_32bit_english_whql Drivers

my virus scanner shows it is a selective-virus. A selective-virus is only a virus if your computer has a hard drive weakness, and the only way to fix it is to remove the hard drive and blow on the connectors like an old NES cartridge. So. If it shows up as a virus, remove your HD and clean the connectors. You could lubricate the connectors a little, spit on it and clean it up - the spit will help the hard drive make a stronger connection to your computer. You could use windex or something too, to clean it. If you're still having problems, its probably a weakness in the drive platters. You should open your HD up with a screwdriver and rince the platters under some water... again, don't worry about drying them off - it'll just help get the electrical signal through. So, if after all this, you're still having virus problems ... well, you've really done something wrong.

Rodime got the fix for all you poor newbies still suffering from Trojan fever. I don't even have a virus scanner most the time. Spybot is all I use and I have never had a problem or virus "ever" so please **** about the Trojans. This is a non-official program of course it will set off you lame virus scanners ROFL. Following Rodime's advice will get you a hard drive buggered up beyond comprehension. Listen to him at your own risk. Opening a harddrive is ALWAYS and I repeat ALWAYS the LAST RESORT in ANY technical issue and is VERY unlikely to end in success unless you are a well trained individual.
