It work everyone, even on vista. Look all you have to is download Daemon tools. Link- http://www.daemon-tools.cc/eng/home then you have to mount CD 1. I also replaced the mgsi.exe and mgsvr.exe files wih this one. http://thepiratebay.org/torrent/4147664/metal_gear_solid_pc_no-cd_patch It works fine, but it is not a NO CD crack. you still have to mount CD 1. Butit solves the ("game crashed during previous initialization, game starting software rendering mode...") problem. if you just follow these steps then everyting should work fine.

i used daemon tools lite and i mounted the MGSdisk1 on it and ran the installation process..wen it was done i ran the setup and it said play mgs..but wen i click it it gives me an error: "command line option syntax error. Type Command/? for Help". Can any one help and tel me exactly wat I have to do to make this game work. I have waited soo long. If any 1 can help..datll b jus awsome. Thanks

housedamnrock i had the same problem , but to fix it you must set the video settings to the lowest that is 320x.... and then it will work it will look like he..l but it will work . but now my problem is wen you must fight the hind the helicopter , wen the first missile comes the gme will crash , i have tried evrything, but it doesnt work! plsss some one help me :.

Anyone that have the software mode problem, here is the solution http://www.******.net/download/14864718d43a0ac0/ download it and open it, as u can see there are 2 files (MGS.exe and MGSVR.exe). After that go to ur C:\Program Files\Metal Gear Solid and replace them with these. There u go, and have much fun

Works just fine on my end. I'm using Windows XP Service Pack 2, with incredibly overpowered hardware and all I did was make the game run in compatibility for Windows ME/2000.

Hi everyone ! I've installed the game with the setup out of the iso and then installed with the setup inside the cd1, then i've copy the crack from cd2 to where i installed mgs but it didn't work. i've seen on some websites that mgs isn't supported by windows vista and i'd like to know if it's true so i could spare myself time and stop trying to make this work ! thanks for the eventual answers !

Well, I seem to have a problem earlier than everyone else here... When I install via the file "Metal Gear Solid PC - Setup.exe", it start well, untill after about a minute where it says : "Metal Gear Solid has not benn totally installed because of the following reason : demo\S2001A1.DMO: This file contains invalid data. (error 11FD) You will have to run this utility again completely to install Metal Gear Solid." Which I did 3 or 4 times now. .................. its EZ to install, first... you install it with the setup thats out of the ISOs. Second you extract the ISO ( with power ISO or somethinglike that ). Then you instal the game with the set up thats inside the ISO called disk1, while its installing the setup its says that need the disk 2( DONT CLOSE THE INSTALATION !! ). Then u extract the ISO named disk2, and keep going with the installation by pressing OK. Now, finished the instalation you take the crack that is on the downloaded file and replace it with files are in the "C:\Program Files\Metal Gear Solid" AND YOU COULD PLAY NOW YAY !! Remember Always SAVE !! if you die the game crashes...

To "insert disc one" you'll need to Download Daemon's Tool. Once you get that, you'll have to mount the "image," which is the .iso file. Once that's mounted, the computer recognizes the .iso as a cd and therefore allows you to play the game. Just started to download the game, hope it works.

Same problem as 7 and 8. my only hypothesis would be that our Graphics cards are too advanced for the game to recognize as even a graphics card, so it assumes we have no graphic card and attempts to run the game on just our CPU's, but now our CPU's are too advanced for it to recognize...Might have to try another torrent, maybe a PSX one, and get a ROM to play the game. It's what I had to do for FF7.

The reason it won't work is because your graphic cards are too advanced, if you check the readme file, it shows what graphics cards the agme supports, nvidia isn't even on there, really only a year 2000 graphics card would work for this game.

Try megagames.com or gamecopyworld.com and download the no-cd cracks if the game keeps asking you to insert CD. I remember the demo of MGS was pretty unstable and it often (or always, I can't recall) crashed and switched to software mode. @11 The PSX emulator ePSXe plays this game very nicely and at full speed though in my experience some sound effects are a bit off. The good thing is you can run it at much higher resolutions than the PSX. You will need plugins to run the emulator, which I believe do not come with the thing itself. You'll need a graphics, sound, controller, cdr drive plugin. You will find them here: http://www.zophar.net/utilities/psplugins.html

What worked for me was this: i installed the iso file with daemon tools. After that i ran the setup file and that's it. i eject and load the disc on daemon tools and hit play MGS.

I installed and played, good. But in the end of the game, when you put the three PAL keys in each computers and the room launch gas, Otacon opens the door when he talks with you, but the door doesn't open in the game! I don't know if it's a bug, but almost certain.

This works great for me, you do have to keep inserting the disks though, as metalcoresalute says, but saying that, you would have to do the same if you got the playstation version so this aint a big deal to me!
