Why can't TV productions and bbc radios follow the discworld timeline and do it from the top instead of jumping around?

My apologies, from now on I'll try to control my curiosity about things in general. It was not my intention to offend the anyone who has nothing to do with TV production or BBC Radio in the slightest, but simply records from them.

James, the answer's in the reference to the TV series "Life On Mars" http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Life_on_Mars_%28TV_series%29 Media W@nks chase ratings and some "creative" noticed the superficial similarities between "Night Watch" and LoM, thinking they could market Pratchett's "product" as a parody (even though it predates it). What do they care about the various possible logical orderings of Discworld novels? Sky TV is doing the same botched job - having decided that the Discworld is merely the source material for late-career starring vehicles for Sir David Jason. I have nothing to do with TV production or radio, but the way it works is fairly obvious and understandable
