well no surprise this will work. HP USB format utility is all over the internet for formating USB key without causing damage to your key like windows xp format. All you need is a image file to make it bootable (can be find anywhere on the internet too - just need a copy of a bootdisk - any bootdisk like win98 for a dos boot)

Usually I install XP from either a cdrom or DVD but over time these get damaged, scratched or just for some reason don't work on some systems. I've looked all over the internet for an alternative, I found many but they have other stuff or are just spyware viruses etc. This is a good one, it has the xpboot.img image file, HP usb utility, BartPE for making the disc, and a really good link to a website with step by step instructions. Yes I use this every day, and install XP about 4 times a day it doesn't work on every flash drive, you need a good one, a good example Corsair 1gb, but it won't work on a 4 gb, 8gb, 16gb or even my 64gb, but my 1gb works great, installs in around 30 minutes to the desktop on a AMD 3700+ Hope this helps!!
