thnx ppl have good comments about the authenticity..so im downloading niow..ive been looking for this in long time..before tehy only had the TV show of it..thnx..to play subs download vobsub..and install and play the movie with mediaplayer..and a little green arrow will popup in the tray where the clock is..if u see it it means subs are working..if theyre not working..u make sure to rename the sub file the same name as the movie file...Or u can just download VLC to play the movie..

first of all go into the folder with 'city of men.avi' in and ull see the 'subs; folder, open it and right-click 'city.of.men-keki-subpack.rar' and and select 'extract to men-keki-subpack\'. now a new folder should appear called 'city.of.men-keki-subpack'. these two files are your subtitles. use convertXtodvd (downlaodable from mininova) and once u've added the .avi file ull see a subtitles menu, Right-Click and select 'Add Subtitles' then choose the subtitles from the 'city.of.men-keki-subpack' folder. then convert once you've done a menu and everything. i have tried and for some reason mine keeps freezin up when it gets to about 15% but i dont kno why because every other movie works when i use convertXtodvd.

After you goto www.subscene.com and search for subtitle file for City of Men, download it and unzip it into the containing folder from your torrent download. now i know this folder already has a subs folder in it but i didnt use it. I used the new subs file from the subscene.com. then all you have to do is rename this file" City.Of.Men.2007.DVDRip.XviD.srt". This should be the exact name as the avi file you downloaded right down to upper and lower case (DO NOT USE MY " " marks!) but make sure to add the ".srt" at the end of the file. Works perfectly!

For the subs, just open the zipped file, and open it up with VLC Player. You select the subs selection via the drop down menu under 'video' and 'subtitles track'. It works.

Scratch the .sfv one (it's actually not even a subtitle file but a checksum file to verify your download downloaded correctly), & unpack the .rar as I've instructed above. The 2 files that unpack are City.Of.Men.2007.DVDRip.XviD-KEKi.idx & City.Of.Men.2007.DVDRip.XviD-KEKi.sub. Put these files into the same folder as your movies file, etc., as I've described above. (& if u didn't get the .rar file u can load the torrent again & just download that file; it shd only take a couple minutes)

You'll need a program to unpack (decompress) the files. For .rar type compressed files (like this one), the standard program for the Windows is Winrar, but there may be others (try Googling) and for Mac, Zipeg is great.

hi im having problems with the subs it would be great if any one could help. im using windows vista as my os. and the vlc media player. i have put the sub file in the same folder as the film however when i open it i get an error message stating. OK, after downloading and looking I see that in the .rar file it's not an .srt file but rather an .idx and a .sub. I would ignore the .idx file and use only the .sub file. Again, just unpack the .sub file to the same root folder as the movie file and set your player to 'load subtitles automatically'. Let me know if you still have problems, and if so, what player you're using.

I question, though, the fact that ur error seems 2 b referring 2 the .rar file as its loaded sub file. Did u unpack (unzip) the .rar file? If YES, then ignore all the rest of this & let me know. If not, then you need 2 do that, & 2 files should come out of it- a .sub & an .idx. U should put both of those files into the same folder as ur .avi & u should b good 2 go (many thanks again 2 steveofthejungle), so long as u have the VLC->Preferences->Video->Subtitles/OSD->'Autodetect subtitle files' box checked. U can just unpack the files directly in2 that folder like haha3000. If u've never done it b4, u'll need 2 download a zipping program. There r a few 4 the Mac. I use & have had no probs with Zipeg. It handles all the major zipping formats (.zip, .rar, etc.). Plus it's free. It may seem like more hassle (malarky) than it's worth now, but not only is this a great movie, u'll definitely want that zipping software in the future. Keep persevering!

P.S.: Even if you're not on a Mac, the instructions r the same. You might choose a different program for unpacking, though. Winrar may have even come installed on your comp, so try just double-clicking the .rar file first.

hello, giobemo. i also downloaded city of men and i'm trying to follow your instructions with VLC media player but i'm having some difficulty. 1) I moved the subfiles into the same folder with the video but i don't know which sub file to load. one file was named .rar and the other was .sfv, i renamed the .sfv file and tried to load it but it didn't work. the file still says subpack on it. How do i unpack the file exactly and i'm using windows XP as my operating system? Please help.

No worries. Good to know about putting the .idx in there! I was always miffed that VLC didn't load automatically & it's good 2 know it can & how 2 do it. Yea, Amores Perros was an awesome movie! I watched it in the theater when I was living in Mexico and it first came out. Lots of good movies from Latin America. Cheers!

Yea, Media Player Classic installs with the storm codec which includes ffdshow support & I think even vobsub too. Burning it all to a disk will work, just again, make sure you either have all the files in the same folder on the disk or all of the files not in any folder.

What player are you using? In general, you need to unpack the .rar file to get the subtitle file (usually .srt). If it's not already the same, you need to rename the .srt file so its name exactly matches the name of the movie file, except the extension should still be .srt, not .avi or whatever. Then the .srt file needs to be put in the same folder as the movie file. In most players, if you choose the option "load subtitles automatically", you should now be all set, just open the movie file and the subtitles should appear. With some players, like VLC, I've found it necessary to manually load the sub file. Let me know if this works for you or not and I can offer further advice if needed. I'm living in Russia and my girlfriend is Russian so I have a lot of experience with subtitles. The timing can often be a problem, but if the subtitle files come with the movie file, they should have the same name already and the timing should match up.

That said, VLC player has a lot of advantages over WMP, and might well be worth your while to download. It would play the subs, as is, without installing ffdshow or vobsub, so long as you have the sub files and avi all in one folder. It would probably help you avoid some of WMP's other shortcomings in the future too if you watch a lot of downloaded movies. I understand, though, if you're used to WMP and don't wanna change or clutter your computer with more programs.
