yes, this is the superior version. as with 'brazil', the studios often get it wrong and sometimes it's the cast (as in 'brazil') itself which make a stand. many thanks for making this available.

NOTE TO "tameas": Director Ridley Scott PERSONALLY intervened to drain all copies of this version of "Blade Runner" out of the marketplace and prior to allowing DVDs to be pressed re-cut the movie, extracting and ultimately removing the voice-overs [originally performed to such stunning effect by Harrison Ford]. The use and inclusion by Ford of "the N-word" had absolutely NOTHING to do with it. -----Part_1_of_4------

It is likewise true that many of us in the file-sharing communities believe that culture and art should be free to all willing participants. This is by no means to say that artists should not be compensated for their work. The problem is that these big-***** corporate stooges and their 9-figure-annual-salaries are the real reason for the asinine RIAA, MPAA, and other such organizations outlawing and persecuting file-sharers and our sites and communities. Make no mistake, these ****** care nothing about compensating the creative artists and frankly know nothing about what real creative artwork is. They have in fact shaped the Copyright and Patent laws and legal system as well as *****d out the entire the American government to do their dirty work -- all just to maintain their absolute control over how people out in the cloud obtain works that we/they find desirable. -----Part_3_of_4------

Speculation in the film community as to why Ridley Scott would do this is rampant and more than a bit random, but seems to centere around Scott's desire to "own" essentially all residuals associated with the film's distribution. Scott had his court machinations done here in the USA because it was the only place where he believed he could actually stand any chance to prevail. Unfortunately, his hunch paid off, and the market was drained of the artful and effecting voice-over of Harrison Ford. The film is a significantly lesser achievement for this reason. The summary artistic value of this extraordinary voice-over is now lost to all but those of us in the file-sharing communities and those lucky enough to have a working VCR and a RARE copy of the original video. It turns out I possess both, but am downloading this to preserve this version digitally -- in all honesty, for posterity. -----Part_2_of_4------

I know that I am by no means alone in my reasoning -- that file-sharing is preserving the culture for future generations. This is more of a cause than most people could ever really appreciate. This Version is the original, and for some legal reason, not available anymore. Unless you can find an old video tape at a garage sale, you are stuck watching the directors cut or the final cut. I don't think either are as good as this one. Cheers

The probable reason the voice over was removed is because it mentions the "N" word ... one that is taboo to mention in this day and age ... pity the movie was much better with the voice over than without it. thanks for the upload

2/2 I'll enjoy seeing the ORIGINAL ( actuLLY i'M ****** WITHOUT THE VOICE OVER ) - Would be good if somebody out there got this VHS versions - stripped the voice over - added to a Original BLU-RAy version AND avi and ............. then we'd get what we want - Decent visuals and our beloved voice over .............. and an amazingly superb conceptual movie which influences all Sci-Fi / Marvel type / New Batman / futuristic movies going - Funny how the old models and moving camera's around models ( also Star Wars which worked so well .... like better than todays digitised stuff ) Smiles to all - and Cheers RickeeeBoy

1 /2 Superb odysseus19 - Hit the nail on the head there as I saw the first WITH the voice over therefore the movie isn't the same without the voiceour - PLUS it started a thing with me - where I love a voice over as it comes across as a book / story - plus it does another thing - it adds your own brain thoughts and visuals to all those voice overs therefore making EVERY single viewers own brain copy slightly different - superb. Seems there was LOADS of Heated BAD feeling between Scott and the deisgners / makers / techo's / and the actors ( See IMDB ) so also curse came from here and H. Ford just did the voice over and never put that much into it - ( sort of did it in a morning thing ) and Scott never wanted it but it got in - then Scott went banannas and put his rant all over the subsequent versions. cont

I have been searching for the original version for so long. All the releases around who which claim to be the original are director's cut. The big diffrence is, there is voice over by Deckard (Harrison) in the original version. So, the quality of this upload might be not so great (still watchable) THIS IS THE ORIGINAL VERSION !!! Thanks for the upload man, I'll keep seeding this as long as I can, so I appereciate if the others do the same.
