The ENG sub file included was written by a dyslexic...! Most of the lower case "i"s were replaced with lower case "l". Very ****ing strange indeed! Anyway, I found it extremely disconcerting reading them whilst trying to enjoy the film, so I edited them & uploaded the fixed ENG subs file to: http://www.opensubtitles.org/en/subtitles/3318020/cidade-de-deus-en They're in srt format. If that doesn't suite, use this little freeware app at http://www.ireksoftware.com/ta/index.html called "Time Adjuster" to convert to whatever format your player likes. enjoy....

I'm portuguese and i've seen the movie. i'll make on thing clear THIS MOVIE ISN'T PORTUGUESE, IT'S BRAZILIAN many people make mistakes, portuguese is from portugal, portuguse-brasilian ou simply brasilian is from brasil. It's not that hard to separate. So, the REAL title for the movie is "Cidade de Deus" a great movie, written by brazilians, etc... portugal and brasil are very close from the past, but let's face it, an ocean separate us. it's time to now geography!!!! by the way, there's a new brasilian one called "Tropa de Elite" i think, very nice. There is english subs in the .srt file that comes with this d/l mixtealimao - (port) in the title just means the language of the film not the origins and the uploader put the original title in general info

I fixed the .srt file. Looks like it had messed up any numbers and switched all the lowercase "l"'s with capital "L"'s. If anyone is interested I can send it.

hey people! the words expressed me a little angry, not the fact. just that I'm tired that people think Portugal is in south America or something. you can say that Portuguese and Brazilian is like england and USA or something like that. we understand each other well. but there are many terms that are different, the accent is very different! Brazil South America Spoken language - Portuguese Nationality - Brazilian Portugal Europe Spoken language - Portuguese Nationality - Portuguese As mixtealimao said, they are the same language but with very different accents, along with some terms and words. Spanish is a lot more different, and it's common for a portuguese speaker not be able to communicate with a spanish speaker, although when written it's a lot easier to understand and/or guess the meaning of the words The movie is in brazilian portuguese. And in case you're wondering, I'm brazilian, so yeah, I know oneGg I think the only way to do that is by making the movie hard subtitled first... not sure tho

@Kalpoo - The movie is in Brasilian-Portugese. Its number 17 on the All-time list at IMDb. If it was in english it just wouldnt feel right. subs are available and that doesnt take away from the the fact this film is RAW, untamed and deserves its place so high on the list of all time best movies. Its one of the few that ive watched more than once. Watch it. Tell ur friends too Sick

It's in the Brazilian dialect of Spanish, i think. But the subtitles are all we need. I played it in VLC player and it worked fine. Picture 8/10 audio seemed to be a little hazy and i couldn't tell if it was just the movie or the rip. either way it's not anything i could understand. audio 7/10. Thanks for the rip tho! Good movie and worth the watch for sure
