How to Attract House & Feed Birds by Walter E. Schutz

As the title says, this book is a great resource for attracting, feeding and housing birds.

Originally published in 1955 it has extensive information on what birds like for food and habitat (over 200 pages).

You will learn how to make your own seed mixtures and bird delicacies.

You are given complete plans and instructions for the building of feeding, watering, and housing units-from simple tray feeders to elaborate structures for entire bird families.

Over 17 feeder plans including Log Feeders, Platform Feeders, Hopper Feeders, Shelf Feeders, and many others.

Over 30 plans with mechanical drawings for the construction of bird houses and shelters. Complete construction operations - tree guards to protect birds from cats and rodents, and houses especially designed for the comfort of owls, ducks, wrens, swallows, woodpeckers, robins, martins, and many other bird species.

A complete program for providing birdbaths and watering stations, and complete plans for a decorative and useful concrete birdbath.

The ecological focus of the book is presented in the opening chapter. It discusses the inter-relationship of man, bird, and our environment, emphasizing and reinforcing man's responsibility to himself and to other living creatures. This is a book about birds-but it is also a book about people and love.

Special sections describing the care of sick birds and the protection of birds from their natural enemies.

This is a very good manual scan of the original book but is probably not the best for printing out in its entirety, however individual plans can certainly be printed and worked from.
