Running on vista, followed the instructions. Game runs fine on the cutscenes. I hit start new game, then when i get to the loading screen the music plays and it never stops loading. For anyone that has the endless loading screen , or does not get the daemon pro patch try this out. 1 unistall daemon pro that is provided with this dl (if you installed it) Then retart your comp. 2 Download the latest version of daemon lite 3 go to options in the DM lite and select all of the formats (.mds, .iso, .cso, etc) 4 Make sure the witcher file is in c/ program 5 run the reg 6 make sure there is only one folder titled "the witcher" 7 mount the only file that appears in the "This Firts" folder 8 enjoy Worked for me, good luck to you THANKS DOPEMAN YOUR THE SHIT!!!

So trust me, try that techniqe befor you give up on this one. Great game. Very fun and its a breath of fresh air from other RPG's. The game is very good and works fine. i am playing without any problem. 2. after downloading u will get two files (i hope so ) one is *.nfo file and second is "TW1.1a.7z" named file. 3. please make sure u have winrar installed on ur pc 4. extract the TW1.1a.7z file by right clicking and choosing the extract option 5. plz wait for some time as the extraction does take some time so just be patient. call ur gf or if u dont have a gf like me than go to kitchen and eat something or have a drink. just kill few minutes.

Apr 07 2008 at 10:28 by TimUKs (mininova.org)Well i spent 2 days downloading this and plain and simply it doesnt run on my pc, none of what is given installs properly on Vista, i tried changing compatability and even changing permissions, but they all do the same, install>failed install>try re-install (for daemon tools)program already on hard drive, its just a vicous circle and doesnt bother working, my advice if you have xp, dont bother, unless you already have daemon tools pro installed without hassle. Oh yeah and btw i been doing this for 6 years, so dont try and tell me i dont know what im doing.

Apr 09 2008 at 13:37 by lordmohit (mininova.org)oh .. i guess u followed all the steps correctly.. the prob is not in the process but the files as such on pc.. this has happened with me many times (in general when i install something and on starting it tells me to close it etc) i will advise to clean ur pc properly.. like proper virus scan, uninstall the software and try installing it again, (i still remember this case when i wanted to play full spectrum warrior game, panzer game , and prince of persia game.. ) it is weird.. sometimes some files get corrupted and pc starts behaving improperly.. still this is what i sould try.. sorry but i dont think there is a specific reason .. just the registry may be corrupted or bad installation (files prob thats why i suggest to clean the pc properly)

Bit defender is the best antivirus software in the market and it has helped me maintaining my pc in good condition always. i assure u the whole download is clean.. easy to install and works perfectly fine.. read my comment above.. antivirus softwares detect cracks as trojans' etc.. trust me it si clean

Few mins later my PC rebooted on its own and my virus checker was telling me it had quarantined two Trojans. so make sure you watch out if they are hidden in this upload, which I'm guessing since thats the last thing I unrar'd and tried to install. Start DT PRO and 'ADD a virtual IDE Drive', Go to -->Tools-->Add IDE Virtual Drive IT MUST BE IDE DRIVE, NOT another ScSI Drive as DT sets up by default." My problem is, it won't allowed me to click on "Add IDE Virtual Drive". In another word, its all grayed out. I've tried to uninstall and reinstalled DT Pro and still of no used. I'm currently running Win XP x64. Does that have to do with the problem I'm facing? BTW, I also have DAEMON Tools Lite (4.12.3) installed. Any help or answered would be appreciated. Thx in advance.

Ive used software like this 101 times and thats the 1st time that happened, infact this is also the 1st time a crack was tagged as a virus by my pc. So for those of a nervous disposition dont download this, for the more hardcore or quite frankly cheap gamers go for it.

How to fix: Start -> Run -> regedit Backup if you are scared about changing this if you want to. The string you are looking for is: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\CD Projekt Red\The Witcher You will now see InstallFolder on the right panel. Double click it, and make sure the "Value Data" matches the directory the game is in. So if you your game is in C:\Program Files\The Witcher that is what this line should read. If not change it, save it, and try the patch again.

The Read Me wasn't properly instructed. some of the stuff in there is not needed. 1) Ok, To start off Drag all folders in the RAR/ZIP folder onto your desktop. The folders should be named "HERE FIRST!!" and "The Witcher" 2) Now that those folders are on your desktop, you wont experience a slow transfer rate. So if you have daemon tools lite don't bother installing Daemon Tools Pro. But if you don't have Daemon Tools at all, Install the one provided in the download. MORE INSTRUCTIONS CONTINUE ON NEXT COMMENT!!!!!!

I too had the problem where I followed all the steps correctly and then tried to run the game. I was always getting the Windows Encountered an Error message. Turns out that the primary game folder needs to be in the root directory of whichever drive you have the game on. For example, H:\The Witcher. Doesn't matter which drive, just has to be in the root. That fixed it for me.

Once the game started I set it to medium and it improved in-game and out. I only have a x800 ati card (although all pipes opened via BIOS flash), 2 GB RAM, and AMD Opteron 146 CPU. I don't know why the game starts with all graphics options maxed with my hardware.

Dec 25 2007 at 19:26 by weewut (mininova.org)to admirer86 did u read all the comments before posting either that or re-read the instructions anyways there is no crack there's a patch for dt pro once u installed it drag the patch inside your dt pro folder in programs files and run the patch after u got dt pro running mount the mini witcher image file which can be found in "here first" folder and launch the game that should work but I rather u read the instructions carefully for better comprehension.

On my 64 bit system, it has difficulty applying the registry changes so that I do not need to mount the game. When I mount the game, it runs perfectly, what is the recommended option? Should I apply a no-cd crack? Or should I simply live with it? Perhaps there is something else I can do entirely...

Tried again, reunzipped the 7-zip file, did everything the thing told me about patching the Daemon Tools, Daemon tools starts up, I make an IDE thing. I try mounting NS-PT-SS-poseden.mds. Feb 10 2008 at 07:03 by tom292 (mininova.org)yes you can patch to 1.2, just run the registry setup (regsetup.exe), and you should just be able to install the patch normally, i did with this release anyway. i patched it to v1.2 before i started playing the game, and i just finished it last night, i have to say even though the game crashed a fair bit for me it was a f'ing brilliant game, loved every minute of it. one quick tip, The Witcher doesnt react too well if you have a tonne of saved games, so keep your saves minimal, under 10 or 20.

(on windows XP SP2) 1. use 7zip or WinRAR to extract the game, i put mine in C:/Games/The Witcher, it shoudlnt matter where. if the file wont extract, such as reporting a corrupt file, sorry guys but that means what it says, its corrupt, download it again, torrents can do that, bad luck 2. run the regsetup.exe file 3. make sure you use Daemon Tools PRO, not normal/lite. if you dont have that just search for it here on mininova. 4. once you have Daemon Tools PRO up and running, make sure you add a virtual IDE drive, not SCSI. in the program go Tools > Add IDE Virtual Drive, and if you have a SCSI drive there remove it.

My only problem is that it crashes every now and then. I don't know if it's this rip (as opposed to ISO), needs another patch or my comp. Jan 01 2008 at 00:10 by weewut (mininova.org)ok I'm gonna help u guys 1 more time and that's it until next year. this is to Esh u need a free program called 7z to unzip the file just google and download it.and to FIndInEMO and Googooly u only have to unzip the witcher7z file once 'not twice' but once. if your mds file is 0 byte u did something wrong it's not suppose to be 0 byte and when u mount the mds file with the ide drive it's suppose to read it I don't know why your file says 0 byte hope this helps "dude it's really easy installation" thanx dopeman best pc rpg ever.

The path for the game really needs to be ":/program files/The Witcher" for the game to work. So that's "C:/program files/The Witcher" or "D::/program files/The Witcher" or whatever... files don't have to be on "C:" you can have them on any drive, just so long as the path is ":/program files/The Witcher". And remember to double click "Regsetup" again if you move "The Witcher" folder, otherwise you will not be able to patch...

First, when i mounted the 'NS-TW_SS-poseden.mds'onto the IDE drive, it says unknown. Then when I double-click the regsetup, i see a command prompt flash up and suddenly dissappear. It can't open my command prompt probably. I am running Vista 32-bit. P.S. When I type "run" into the search bar and then type ipconfig (which usually allows you to see your ipaddress) I see the command prompt pop up and dissappear. The only way I worked it was by going accessories-->Command Prompt. But all i need is help to my Witcher problem thanks

If you are encountering this same problem do this: Follow the instructions. dl the link from 367 post and the nocd crack from 365 (odina you are very appreciated) mount crack with alcohol 120 trial version use the launcher and your all ready to go. Its very simple.

Got 8 Mb connection , but still. You need a program to defragmment, I'w only used Diskkeeper, but im sure there are more of these defragment softs. Diskkeeper isnt free, you might found another free soft on web, or cracked. It isnt too expensive, but because youre here, you propaply dont want to pay for it.

You dont have the lastest driver for your video card Solution: Update your driver at the website of your manufacturer 2. You have the game folder in the download folder. Solution: You should copy everything you've downloaded, and paste it in x:\programfiles (replace x with your hard drive, most likely c). Then rename the folder to The Witcher, and enjoy! Anyways, Great game!!!

For some reason, god knows how, daemon tools finally was able to load the .MDS file and I got 2 hours of gameplay. No crack or patch 1.2. Now I'm trying to load it up again, DT won't load the mds file even with SCSI controllers disabled. Giving the same garbage that it can't open the image in kernel mode. And all my saves are gone. Yay.

If you are careful to follow every instruction in the Read Me, even noobs at torrenting should be able to figure out how to get it to work. For those who dont know how to veiw it...open the nfo file with notepad(or microsoft word etc. I prefer notepad.) Great torrent, and have already seeded 2.4 ratio, plus seeding more. Thanks! PS: To post 728, tryton000, you meditate by lighting a campfire and clicking it or choosing rest while in dialogue with an npc (For Example, Triss Merigold) Not all NPC's offer rest, but many do. If you are in chapter 1 or 2 and out of the prolouge, you could also go to the inn and rest for 5 orens. (Which puts you to meditating)

I havent found any image files in the torrent, so i downloaded the NoCD crack from Odinas. Just dl the NoCD (type Odinas on minovas search and you should find it.) There are 2 ways i'v got this to work. 5) First with alcohol 120 trial, but the trial ended... The newest Daemon tools will work too. (DAEMON Tools Lite v4.12.0 ) 6) Just mount the .mds file in the NoCD folder. Then click the "Launcher" located in the witcher folder. Im wery bad at giving advice, but this is about the way i got it working. May the great Polar Bear bless you all

And as the most people here i got a problem with DT Pro..i installed it (on a fresh system..so no Deamon tools on hdd before)..i applied the patch, but when i start it says: "In order to register and validate your personal copy of DAEMON Tools Pro you have to provide your e-mail adress wich was used when purchasing this software application" Whats up? Didnt the patch applied right?..anyways...i tryed to enter a fake e-mail but when i hit ok it says "Connection to server failed, please check your I-net connection and any Firewalls you may have." Wich is stupid, since without Net connection i wouldnt write here now..and as about firewall..surely i shut it off completly during install and "registration".. Any Ideas? I extracted the game, then I applied a crack (which is now avaible) named the_witcher_incl.crack-CDP (torrent). extracted it to the game system folder and removed the launcher and the game worked fine. The intro works, i could start a new game. however this is where my problem occur! After the cutscene and the very first fight the game kinda freezes when the old man asks if im okey :S I can see the subtitles but I cant hear the man say it. Also its not a complete freeze since the characters are still moving and i can hear the music. Its just as if the game just doesnt continue so i want to know what could be wrong? Please help me if you think you know whats wrong! Thanks

Based on posts in this topic I've overcome each of these problems, now I am able to play the game fine using only the utilities and files included in this download. The only step that dopeman left out of this installation is to move the "The Witcher" directory to your C:\Program Files\ directory so the location of the launcher is C:\Program Files\The Witcher\launcher.exe If you have problems with the daemon tools make sure you read the instructions to uninstall any copy that you have first so that you have a clean plate to work with. If you have other problems reread the instructions because other than what I mentioned above they are very complete. Thanks dopeman this is the best and easiest to install game I've gotten off of mininova.

Anti-virus programs view pretty much all foreign root kits as bad, thats why antivirus progs will not like it and try to delete it. If you do not trust the author of the torrent(i do), try downloading daemon tools from the official website or a similar prog to make this work. There many other virtual drive programs out there. Im still downloading the game, (its about at abot 35%) so i don't know the details of everyones props. i had 1 question for those who have already downloaded the torrent.. is the game in ISO format at first or is it just the install files on the harddisk after the initial setup. If its in ISO format many of you guys should just run the game off iso and not deal with all the problems deamon tools is giving you. please just let me know if the main are in an .iso dvd image after the initial unzipping.

I cannot and the version + patch that came with this download is not allowing me to create one. it gives me an error message saying that the driver is not intended for this platform. then when i hit finish the program seems to lock up for a coupld minutes and gives me a device problem 1. i checked the DT forums and those who have posted about this same issue are told that they dont have customer tags and thats why it doesnt work, but no solution was given. any ideas?

That was the only problem I had cuz I didnt uncheck the "start now" after installing. You cant start DT until after you patch it. So no, I'm not paying for diddle. Followed the instructions, (with a little thought) and got it going in under 10 minutes. If you cant even get DT running, you should probably just give up and wait for a crack.xD. And it wont work on 64 bit platforms.

Sorry, but I'm no computer whizz so IDE etc is all new to me so Dopemans instructions were superb. I'm having the same problems mounting that a couple of people mention, as soon as I try to mount the 'NS-TW_SS-poseden.mds'to the IDE drive my machine completely freezes, can't even ctr-alt-delete. I'm about to try the SPTD 1.51 beta as suggested by ctbmd see if that works. Will update you. P.S. I'm using T7200 2.0 GHz, 2GB Ram, NVidia Go 7600 GT (256 MB), Windows XP Media Home Edition. I know I've followed all the instructions correctly because Dopeman's instructions are so easy to follow, Cheers Dopeman :o)

As per previous post, I tried the update recommended by ctbmd (see post 51 for details and link) and it worked! Prior to installing that update computer had consistently crashed when I mounted the 'NS-TW_S-poseden.mds file to the IDE Drive. I installed the update on the link suggested by ctbmd, rebooted and hey presto, mounted file first time. No idea what the problem is or why worked or what problem was but thank you ctbmd, game is now working. I played the game all day without issue and turned it off with my computer for the night, the next day i turned my computer back on and then mounted the MDS file again in order to play but then it says that it needs me to insert the dvd. The only way i have gotten it to work is to uninstall DT-PRO and reinstall it two or three times until the uninstall actually asks me to reboot when it is done, then when i reinstall DT-pro the next time it restarts then it works fine and i can play the game again. But now im going to have to do it every day my computer gets rebooted. is this happening elsewhere?

Device problem 28) error by doing the following : 1- uninstall all the virtual drive programs (Alcohol 120, Magic ISO ... etc) 2- restart your PC 3- install DTpro following the steps that comes with it. i also fixed the crash problem that happens after trying to launch the game by moving game directory to program files, so the launcher.exe path should be "C:\Program Files\The Witcher\launcher.exe" now everything is working fine thanks for this great release dopeman

First of all there's a couple problems with your installation process here dopeman... 1) There is no regsetup.exe, and even if there was it wouldn't work. You need to rename the regsetup.txt file to regsetup.reg 2) Where the hell is the launcher? I did a search on the witcher directory and there isn't a single exe file in it. Kind of strange no? Anyone wana fill me in on what i might be missing?

However i wonder if it's recommendable to download and install the official patches that are coming? Any thoughts on that? I heard that they will improve loading time and honestly it takes some time between the scens... That is due to The Witcher, rather than the Dopeman though.

Everything except installing 'Windows6.0-KB940105-x86.msu' when i clicked that i got "Installer encountered an error: 0x80070026" "reached the end of the file" so that didnt work. when i launch it i get these errors the witcher\system\miles\mssdolby.flt the witcher\system\miles\mssds3d.flt the witcher\system\miles\mssdsp.flt the witcher\system\miles\msseax.flt the witcher\system\miles\msssrs.flt is either not designed to run on windows or it contains an error. try installing the program again using the orig. install. media or contact your sys. admin. or soft. vendor for support. i get that that error for everyone of those files rite in a row. everything with daemon tools went fine. it even shows that its reading the fixed image after i click on the launch button. any idea's? support the sceen dont be a bahamma mamma! peace! ps thanks again dopeman genius

For those who have said they have mounted the image and nothing happens, well read the instructions fully! It does not say start up and install, you must run the DirectX setup, then install the Microsoft runtime update, and then go to The Witcher folder and run regsetup.exe. THENNNN, double-click launcher to run the game.

I was able to get it running on an xp computer but didn't met the minimum and the graphics looked messed. So the files are complete but I must be doing something wrong in vista that won't let the launcher open. I'm logged as the administrator FYI.

The game works fine if you just follow the instructions step by step. Very cool game, the only problem about it, is the loading time. This torrent already has EVERYTHING you need, daemon tools etc etc etc. And it has all the steps in a txt. If you know how to read, you can play this in no time. As per the text file included in the torrent, I followed the instructions down to the last word, but I've been unable to find success with the Daemon Tools Pro version included in the torrent. The option to add a virtual IDE drive is greyed out in the Daemon Tools agent in the quicktask bar. When I try opening the Daemon Tools Pro window itself, the window whites out and my system crashes. An error I think is similar to xlucidx in comment 49? When I try to troubleshoot by installing a different version of Daemon tools (DT 4.10), I will instead get a "Please insert orignal Witcher dvd" error message. I've tried the setup at least 10 times already to no avail some help please?

Then you go into Program files and find the DT Pro. Copy the crack into that folder and run it from there. It should work like a charm. Also there no point in downloading this anymore.. The Witcher Enhanced Edition comes out next month. Its gunna be great..And plus its better to buy the real version because you cant pats these. So I'm buying both copies....

I got it to work it's very easy just don't forget to mount NS-TW_SS-poseden.mds then run regsetup and launch. Thnx dopeman

Sep 03 2008 at 14:45 by Sizzlik (mininova.org)yay..there is a God out there^^ I finally got it running..i can confirm the above tips.. 1) Unpack the game and copy the "the witcher" folder wherever you want the game to be "installed"..or just leave it were it is. 2) Then run the regsetup.exe to register its path in the win-reg (else the patch will claim "Game not installed properly" 3) Patch to 1.3 (Be sure to set english as default lang) 4) Get the 1.2 fixed image and the easy starter from GCW..they work with 1.3 5) Copy the easy starter files into the witcher game folder and overwrite the old ones. 6) Mount the image with the simple free DT-Lite (no matter the version..i use the newest one) 7) Run the Launcher 8) Play the game 9) Grab a coke 10) Go and buy the game Thanks again to Dopez for upping and all those posters here looking for sollutions^^

Yes, Daemon tools worked for me but you have to activate 3 or 4 switches i remember back when i first got this, but i system restored and formatted to get rid of a LOT of garbage. But to me Daemon Tools is the biggest hastle ever and why use them when such programs such as Alcohol and even the free version of PowerIso work better. Props to the uploader and Munjara for the instructions for using alcohol. Game works perfectly fine, thank you all.
