by my knowledge, its stand alone. I've put it on my external hard disc (recently bought), along with all other games I presume standalone (i'm not stupid). Whats more, it works as a charm while trying to play it from the drive, but thats more a compliment to the disc rather then this. Nonetheless, works as a charm, Alyx indeed doesn't get in the elevator near the end, but the savegame fixes that. (seperate torrent from dopeman)

Hey guys, I have a little problem, could someone fix it with save? So im in "under the radar" chapter, im in the house and then combines & hunters attack. Problem is, nothing happen when I have killed them. Then I watched walkthrough, and saw that hunters should come in... Then I restarted gamer but no... I restarted game 3 times more and once computer and played again, but no, they are not coming in... And because they dont come in and break the basement door I cant get out... Please someone help me with this, its frustrating

Hi I downloaded HL2:episode 2 and stupidly deleted it off my harddrive after burning it on DVD. Now when I try and copy it back to my PC one of the files is corrupted . i saw some guys complaining here about the second alyx freeze in t-minus one. it happened to me too, and here's what i did (and it worked ) - when you walk towards the elevator from where you talked to magnusson, run ahead of alyx and stand near the elevator control, where she usually freezes. she'll approach and push you out of the way, and this (for me at least) does the trick - her next waypoint is triggered and she walks through. hope this helps.

Hmmm, I don't know about the file. It's my first dopeman torrent that doesn't work, I have 28867 files that are broken, bad integrity. Everything works just fine, but I´m experiencing some problems during the cutscenes. In the second chapter when the Vortigaunts are attempting to revive Alyx, they offer me to witness the situation but just then the game suddenly slowes down rapidly and the sound goes out, during some kind of G-Man´s speech (or more like an explanation)...did someone have a similar problem? And I don´t want to skip this part ´cause I want to know what G-Man is saying, can anyone help me? Thanks

Thanks a lot superguy619, this time i did successfully manange to change the target line but unfortunately the same thing happened the game loaded but after like 3 secs it went away, i dont understand why! do u think i dont have the right ATI cards? as im not sure which ones i have as dont really know how to check whether even if i have one or not, could u please let me know how to see which ones i have? oh and one more thing, the whole movie/clip at the beginning of the game does play perfectly fine but as soon as the real game begins something messes up so u think if my cards were not right that clip would not have played? by the way i was trying to play again and did manage to play for about 10 secs more..so weird! driving me crazy though!

I went n bought the Ge Force 7200 GS card and finally the game is working!! but there is a slight problem..the thing is the game is stalling a bit like the sounds r echoing n getting doubled up and the movement is not quite smooth so i tried to lower the resolution of the game but still not a lot of help, im able to play but with gerky movements...also i did update the drivers of the nVidia card but still its the same. Could someone please direct me as to what the cause could be? any help is greatly appreciated...

For userx1x: Hey man why did you buy that old card? This game or any new game will NOT run with that. You should return that card, and buy at least a geforce 8800GS or Radeon HD3850. With those cards you can "play" games. If you cannot afford the graphics cards I've just recommended, you can get a geforce 8600GT with 256mb ram. They are quite cheap this days but you will have to replace it in 1 year approximately since the games are getting more "heavy" and more realistic every day. Regards.

@ dopeman and people wondering if they are the only ones. There are two scenes where FPS drops to maybe 5/6hz and sound is essentially cut entirely: 1) When the vorts ask you to participate in the reviving of Alyx and you get the scene with the Administrator and all that 2)The last scene where Eli dies. (sorry for spoilers) I was pretty ****** off when this happened, I know my video card is slow and it may have nothing to do with dopeman at all, but maybe something to look into?

When Alyx or any other character wont gon on an elevator with you: 1) exit the game 2) re-load your last save before the elevator 3) seconds befor you get on the elevator, drop the consol with the ~ button above tab and type "ai_norebuildgraph 0" with out the quotes and hit enter. roblem solved! fix found in the ahu release of HL2

Thanks dopeman. Great job as usual. Seems kind of odd...Looks like there are a TON of seeders out there, but after 15 minutes or so I'm not seeing better than 35 KB/s. Are you people being stingy? This should be maxed speed for me. I'm looking at a 24 hour d/l here. At the very least set your upload speed in the 15-30 range while you Download. All I have are leechers. This **** is downloaded in a way that you can share the entire time you d/l. Don't be stingy. If you aren't going to seed after you get it at least give a decent upload speed while you d/l.

There's a HUGE problem with this release, all Source innovations are missing, such as HDR lighting, motion blur, cinematic engine. The game plays well, but it looks like Half Life 2 (no engine addons)

Ok, I fixed that problem by adding "-game ep2 -window -dxlevel 90 +mat_forcehardwaresync 0" to hl2.exe shortcut target properties. "-dxlevel 90" means DirectX v9.0, now I have HDR lighting and all effects, but I already beaten the game on ****ty quality, and it's spoiled for me. Why didn't author mentioned that??! It was easy fix.

About fixing the "DirectX 8.0" problem: I've downloaded Dopeman's "Half-Life 2: Episode Two" and it had the same glitch. To fix it, I did not use the "PLAY_EP2.exe" launch file but rather created a shortcut of "hl2.exe" in the folder and specified "-game ep2 -dxlevel 80 +mat_forcehardwaresync 0" after the target line. It then looked exactly like this: "\yourinstalldirectory\hl2.exe" -game ep2 -dxlevel 80 +mat_forcehardwaresync 0 I suppose that by applying a similar set-up to Dopeman's Portal (it also being a Valve game) the problem may be rectified.

I have one in game issue ..! The game works awesome but in the beginning only when we [the girl and me] encounter with the creatures, we kill them.! Hi I cant unrar the 7z.file THe folder READ ME is full of some files ( like 100 ) with weird names and having huge capacity j8Ö??2.?Æ? - this is an example When I check the size of the whole folder is like 70 GB. Even it is on a stick of 4 GB capacity . Perfect RIP Dopeman. For those stupid enought not to read READ ME! There is this bug in "Our Mutual Friend" chapter when blah blah they freeze in the elevator. Fix this by READING THE READ ME ! cuz dopeman included fix for this bug with torrent. I got three bugs in the game. 1. Under the Radar : When u get stuck in the house Solution: Load previous game when you arrive at the house, then kill them until they start to announce something and Alyx says something. Go between the forcefields. 2. Our mutual friend : Stuck laughing. Fix included for this in the torrent. 3. T-Minus one another elevator bug ... not sure how to fix it yet...

worked great for me start to finish but one question; how do you get the commentaries to work. when I activate them, little text at the bottom shows, there's no guy talking and the text only shows for 2 seconds, it then disapears and I am dumbstruck. any ideas how to fix this?

thanks for uploading this. Im having a problem though, Im stuck in the level "under the radar", at the point where you get trapped in the house. Apparently hunters are supposed to break into the house allowing you to continue the game but for me nothing breaks in and none of the doors to the house open, so im stuck. is there a fix for this? does anyone else have this problem?

Can someone help me? I am trying to run the "dxlevel80" command that you would use if this were a Steam version, in order to increase framerate. If this were the steam version, you would go to Properties-Set Launch options in Steam and type in "dxlevel80" at the end of the line.. I'm just not sure how to do this in this non-steam game.. Supedrex, this happened to me also. It worked when I went back to the front entrance of the house outside.

Sorry for the triple post... but there seems to be another problem with the release. The first pause occurred when you reach the base and you start talking to ALyx and her father, but you provided a savegame to pass that. However, there is another pause- at the beginning of T-Minus level just after Alyx opens the elevator door for you. You get on it and she just stands there. Has anyone else had this problem? Works great, thanks Dopeman. My spex XP 64 SP2 AMD X2 3800 socket 939 2gigs RAM 7900gt oc'ed with latest drivers. Latest DX9. Read NFO files, open with notepad... Check if your system can run the game... To anyone with still characters that are not in the described notes provided by Dopeman... try pushing your stuck character around, it might "trigger" them to do the next sequence of action. As always, instructions, then try everything possible. And...seed, respect Dopeman's rips and do your part.

I had 3 errors, and managed to get around all of them. The 1st was fixed by the save in this torrent. The 2nd was what Supedrex described on "under the radar". It fixed itself when I walked out of the house to the right-hand barrier towards the entrance of the barn. Black and white combine soldiers will appear behind you and attack. Kill them then the game should progress as normal. The 3rd one on T-Minus One was harder and I can't really describe what I did, just that it worked, and dopeman has a temp fix for that in another torrent. The problem is that pushing the characters when they're stuck doesn't budge them. You can even shoot objects at them with the gravity gun and they just stand there unfazed

I have problems with some strange triangles as rays during gameplay. I have a nVIDIA GeForce 8800 GTX (DirectX 10). Maybe it's a problem of the crack or something about my graphics card. I don't know the reason. Think it twice before start downloading.

First of all, much thanks to Dopeman for this torrent. However, I am having trouble installing the game. I've followed the instructions in the NFO file, but when I double-click on PLAY_EP2.exe nothing happens. All I get is a command prompt windows that flashes for a brief second, then it disappears. I even tried running that exe file directly from the command prompt but all that does is get me back to the desktop. Am I doing something wrong? Oh and BTW - to coversyl - Half Life is a FPS (First Person Shooter) game. Personally, I don't have much experience with 'puzzle' games, but you might want to take a look at Portal, also by the creators of Half Life 2. I just can't seem to finish downloading this file. I've tried several bittorrent programs and downloading the torrent from different sites, but every time I finish the file it's corrupt. In reply to 65. If the post 71. didn't help... I solved this problem by throwing a grenade into the building in front of the house (I think is a barn - the one just outside the shield). Once "stimulated" they will come out in force from every direction and the game will proceed correctly. I hope this helps. I am too stuck at the point where Alyx is supposed to go on the elevator and I'm supposed to go check what the alarm was about. I tried what was said in 115 I'm still stuck there. Another little fix for it would be great! I would really love to finish this game. Anyway compliments to Dopeman, it's a wonderful release (still only one bug to fix though)

nevermind got it to work by creating a shortcut from the hl2.exe file and adding "-game hl2 -window -dxlevel 81 +mat_forcehardwaresync 0" at the end of the target line.

I'm having problems when trying to launch the game. I unpacked the game an tried to run it as adviced. This message appears: "Starting point of prosedure D3DPERF_SetOptions cannot be found in dynamically linked library d3d9.dll" I'm running an op system with finnish language so I'm not sure if the translation is correct. Any similar problems or can anyone tell me whats going on here??

Please can someone help. Normally can work most stuff out but this is driving me mad When I unpack the file with WinRar there are loads of broken files. I'm using version 3.71pro of winrar and have even tryed using Get 7Zip to uncompress and still the same problem HELP

The game makes restart when it loads the main menu. I have downloaded the "Unleashed" version and "Dopman's rip" and still the same problem! HL2 and ep1 worked fine with no problems, but thise episdoe i cant play! Im really getting desperate plz Help!

Installed HL2 ep.2. After Valve logo, while loading... my PC restart. M$ tells me that there's some problem with hardware (grafics), thank you Bill, I didn't understand it by my own... Tried everything. - updated drivers - installed Riva Tuning - changed command line (as rohanprabhu suggested) ...nothing to do :-( I played *whitout* *any* *problem* HL2 and HL2 ep.1... can't believe that my pc, that's "only" 2 years old, isn't able to play HL2 ep.2 someone can help me? thx

Another (minor) problem... I can't assign any key to "look up" and "look down". All right for others movements/weapons, but nada for looking up/down. I can look up only with the mouse movements!

PROBLEMOS: In the beginning of "Our mutual friend" Alyx is talking to her father before entering the door to "Silo 1". After father's final sentence Alyx should follow Freeman through the door but Alyx and her father freezes! Are there similar problems, is there a fix to this possibly?? Thanx!

can smone plz help me....i unrared and started the game...firstly it said engine error: the game needs at least directx 8...i surely had 9 but anyways i reinstalled it again..installed the newest drivers for my nvidia ge force 440 mx but the game just begins and while it is loading the menu it just crashes and goes away...i think some others here other problems...i also tried the same version on my laptop... but the same thing happens...any ideas of how you can help me ????

Hey i downloaded the 4.32GB HL2 E2 and the readme file says "Create shortcut on hl2.exe and add these parameters: -steam -game ep2 It will look like: X:\somedir\portal\hl2.exe -steam -game ep2 Run the shortcut and have fun " I did this nothing happened, it just said target box is not valid. make sure the file name/path are correct. works but has a few bugs. Alyx sometimes gets stuck when walking with you. If this happens just reload from the last save point and try again. There are 2 points I've encountered so far where she gets stuck and I can't fix it. First was when she meets up with her dad and then they both go to get on the elevator. They both freeze up just outside it. I used the save game rar located in the download file and that fixed the problem. The second one happens in T-minus level. After you talk to the scientist Aleyx takes you to an elevator to go up and get a better view of the launch but she stops after the elevator opens and won't budge. How do I fix this?

WORKS PERFECTLY if when you start the game and it says the loading screen then closes that means your computer can't run it. It happened on my brothers computer but it works on mine :D
