Note: This CD set is identical to "Holes In The Sky" set also listed on Bootlegzone.
http://www.bootlegzone.com/album.php?name=PF-05a&section=24

Comments: The source that is used for this CD is from a master tape or a master clone. One of the best 1975 concerts.
http://members.xoom.alice.it/webbootleg/Pink%20Floyd/Elenco_bootleg.htm

Wish You Were Here, released in 1975, carries an abstract theme of absence: absence of any humanity within the music industry and, most poignantly, the absence of Syd Barrett. Well-known for its popular title track, the album includes the largely instrumental, nine-part song suite "Shine On You Crazy Diamond", a tribute to Barrett in which the lyrics deal explicitly with the aftermath of his breakdown. Many of the musical influences in the band's past were brought together — atmospheric keyboards, blues guitar pieces, extended saxophone solos (by Dick Parry), jazz-fusion workouts and aggressive slide guitar — in the suite's different linked parts, culminating in a funeral dirge played with synthesised horn and ending with a musical quote from their early single "See Emily Play" as a final nod to Barrett's early leadership of the band. The remaining tracks on the album, "Welcome to the Machine" and "Have a Cigar", harshly criticise the music industry; the latter is sung by British folk singer Roy Harper. It was the first Pink Floyd album to reach #1 on both the UK and the U.S. charts, and critics praise it just as enthusiastically as The Dark Side of the Moon.

In a famous anecdote, a heavyset man, his head and eyebrows completely shaved, wandered into the studio while the band was mixing "Shine On You Crazy Diamond". The band could not recognise him for some time, when suddenly one of them realised it was Syd Barrett. On being asked how he had put on so much weight, he retorted "I've got a big fridge in the kitchen and I've been eating a lot of pork chops".

In an interview for the 2001 BBC Omnibus documentary Syd Barrett:Crazy Diamond (later released on DVD as The Pink Floyd and Syd Barrett Story), the story is told in full. Rick Wright spoke about the session, saying: "One thing that really stands out in my mind, that I'll never forget; I was going in to the "Shine On" sessions. I went in the studio and I saw this guy sitting at the back of the studio, he was only as far away as you are from me. And I didn't recognise him. I said, 'Who's that guy behind you?' 'That's Syd.' And I just cracked up, I couldn't believe it... he had shaven all his hair off... I mean, his eyebrows, everything... he was jumping up and down brushing his teeth, it was awful. And, uh, I was in, I mean Roger was in tears, I think I was; we were both in tears. It was very shocking... seven years of no contact and then to walk in while we're actually doing that particular track. I don't know – coincidence, karma, fate, who knows? But it was very, very, very powerful".

In the same documentary, Nick Mason stated: "When I think about it, I can still see his eyes, but... it was everything else that was different". In that same interview, Roger Waters has said: "I had no idea who he was for a very long time". David Gilmour stated: "None of us recognised him. Shaved...shaved bald head and very plump". In the 2006 'definitive edition' DVD release of The Pink Floyd and Syd Barrett Story in the UK/Europe the director John Edginton's interviews with Barrett's former Floyd colleagues are included unedited, with far more detail of their feelings and actions during Syd Barrett's tragic breakdown and withdrawal from the band.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pink_Floyd

Long Cold Road by Wray Ellis

PROLOGUE: My Life Changes: June 28th, 1975

I should describe an important event that charted the course of my future. It started in the basement of my parents’ general store. It was long before any recycling programs so one of my duties was to burn paper and cardboard. One day, as I tore up the unsold Toronto Stars and tossed them into the fire, something caught my eye. On one of the pages I was about to toss into the flames, I noticed a picture of Pink Floyd. It was the inside cover photo from the album “Meddle”. Above it, read: “Dance…Think Pink…Pink Floyd LIVE”. I pulled it out and read the ad. Pink Floyd (who I had recently become a great fan of) was going to play live in Hamilton at Ivor Wynne Stadium. That was a show I desperately wanted to see, but there were hurdles. A ticket cost an extravagant $8 and I was making about $2 an hour. I could just about cover that, so I immediately sent off a money order. Next hurdle: getting to Hamilton from Haliburton was a long drive – 5 or 6 hours. I had a car, but it was an old one: a 1964 Pontiac station wagon. It could possibly make the trip but I was still 16 and hadn’t even driven on a real highway yet. And, there was no one that I could ask to drive me. My parents were more than a little concerned about such a long drive for such an inexperienced driver. But when my ticket arrived, I knew I had to make it work somehow. I asked my buddy Jack Outram to come along. He said he didn’t mind going even without a ticket – so I finally had a plan.

On the morning of June 28, 1975, I gassed up the wagon and we headed out to parts unknown – and off to my very first rock concert. Everything was going fine until we got to Lindsay, about half way. That's when I experienced my first blown tire. For just such an emergency, I carried my father’s Esso credit card so I limped into an Esso station, bought a cheap tire and had it installed. We were back on the road and it only slowed us down by an hour. Amazingly, I got through Toronto traffic with no problem at all. I didn’t get lost or take a wrong turn – which happens regularly to me even now. We easily found our way to Hamilton and from there, I basically just followed the throngs of people until we spotted the stadium. Parking was a trick though. Every driveway, front yard or side alley was already packed with cars. I spotted a kid in front of a factory who took my last $5 and showed me to his last spot. I figured he probably had no connection to the property but we were running out of time. I decided that if my car got towed, I’d deal with it after the show. Pink Floyd was calling!

We hopped out and joined the exuberant crowd marching toward the concert. It was a beautiful, warm summer night. The smell of sulpher from the steel mills would give way to something more herbal the closer we got to the stadium. Jack and I agreed to meet right after the show outside the stadium under the scoreboard and I wandered in and found my seat. I was about half way back, to the left of the stage. The place was packed: 65,000 people. As I looked out over the city, the roof of every nearby building was populated for the “free” show. I’d never been to anything like this!

As soon as the music started, I became transfixed. I was amazed by the lights, sound effects and most of all, David Gilmour’s guitar-playing. It was an awesome spectacle - and it was on this night that I decided to devote as much of my life as possible to playing music. Specifically, to playing the guitar.

At the end of the show, I felt elated. I hooked up with Jack and was relieved to hear that he’d found a spot where he could look through the fence and see the show about as well as I did. We were both overwhelmed by the experience and I needed to walk around a bit before I could drive. Luckily, when we reached my parking spot, my car was still there and the ride home was a breeze. We probably got home around dawn, but it was worth every second.

Recently, I happened to experience that very show again. Thanks to the internet, you can find an astonishing array of bootlegged concerts – and I found this one. It’s known as “Steel Breeze”. It’s a wonderful show. But for me, that concert (just 2 days after my 17th birthday) was when my life completely changed – and I decided to be a musician. I’ve never looked back.
http://davisvilleproductions.com/home.php?portfolio=Wray

Info: This is the thirteenth Harvested release.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pink_Floyd
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pink_Floyd_discography
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pink_Floyd_live_performances

http://www.harvested.org/

Tracklisting:

Disc 1
01 - Raving and Drooling 12:37
02 - You Gotta Be Crazy 13:28
03 - Shine On You Crazy Diamond (parts 1-5) 12:29
04 - Have A Cigar 4;53
05 - Shine On You Crazy Diamond (parts 6-9) 12:05
06 - Speak To Me 3:01
07 - Breathe 3:00
08 - On The Run 5:02
09 - Time 6:32

Disc 2
01 - The Great Gig In The Sky 6:34
02 - Money 9:09
03 - Us And Them 7:24
04 - Any Colour You Like 8:51
05 - Brain Damage 3:52
06 - Eclipse 2:10
07 - Tuning 1:23
08 - Echoes 24:34

Torrent History:
Originally seeded to Mind-Warp PaVilion by schnittstelle on October 19, 2007.
WackoBros&Sista thank the Harvested boys for their releases.

FLAC fingerprints:
(use these to check file integrity, and also if you are unsure whether you already have the same files or not - the prints remain the same even if file names and tags are edited, so if you have the same files, the fingerprints will match)

Disc1

101 Raving and Drooling.flac:488484feecdeba4b703e27b53dd63a85
102 You Gotta Be Crazy.flac:8d197358ff4fbaab2a6112ea83b2ae66
103 Shine On You Crazy Diamond part 1.flac:85c839911bcf010eab2c2c1baa531a6d
104 Have A Cigar.flac:52925d23bd4a0b631de301f7a9a03a73
105 Shine On You Crazy Diamond part 2.flac:f7b4d02e379066ea281aa5ba9ec46539
106 Speak To Me.flac:9464f98a101632d91def50a141910b3c
107 Breathe.flac:223f3c2ac384790e1f94c9772053568f
108 On The Run.flac:313710cd5c1cf51f299d2f1df983cfde
109 Time.flac:5d2dcb28183df039b9993a4c928ea14d

Disc2

201 Great Gig in the Sky.flac:333ed71b6db7f179639ba3eee6201ed9
202 Money.flac:2c3f7c39c1dd89d81b141bb32ac42b46
203 Us and Them.flac:5dc345460b5d950ed03bfd558911c5c5
204 Any Colour You Like.flac:0d37098a9a90074c6995d2887891d435
205 Brain Damage.flac:20b269b9a5acb4c48cf76bea4fce0fcf
206 Eclipse.flac:a50263b50a11806e0ddc54626f228cc8
207 Tuning.flac:1958cdaebdc415a65f9bd2db99891573
208 Echoes.flac:95c7507646d874a6cff31e89e5d8eac5
