Scrap that earlier comment about working perfectly. Seemed to work fine for about 15 minutes until it became buggy as hell. Crashes on most loading screens now and just crashes at random places. Seems to be a problem loading voice clips as when the game plays spoken dialogue the game begins to slow down to snailspace and eventually exits to the desktop.

the game works fine but I want to see the making its not working. Also The cinematic only worked once the first time I ran the game from the CD & I did not use the crack because the game already worked. I trued using the crack but didn't make a difference. So tell me how can I see the cinematic please.

OK guys its simple as ever. 1) mount using daemon tool 2) setup properties then select compatibility run in compatibility mode then select NT not 98. 3)Right click on thief.exe & do the same thing u did in step 2. 4) Enter this site & follow the steps http://www16.brinkster.com/salvage/thief/darkengine.htm This step is Wingmna's idea so thank him 5) run the game from the CD. The game should work now. 6) Trying to watch cinematic. "INDEO doesn't support xp nor vista" a) download SUPER http://www.erightsoft.com/SUPER.html#Dnload b) go to CD 2 & open thief then movies then drag the movies according to your current level E.X."mission 1 is b01" click play.

If you have 2 processors do the following which worked for me: when you go to the menu, press ctrl+alt+del, find the .exe of the game that is running in the processes field and right click, then go to "set affinity" and uncheck the second processor, click ok and return to the game. c.k.

@paramd911 Hopefully you've solved your problem by now, but if you still need help, all I did was press alt+tab to minimize the setup, then mount the second disk. A few boxes popped up, but i just closed them and continued the setup. The game seemed to install alright. I can see the intro cutscene and I was able to play through some of the training, but the game freezes a lot (A LOT) and I don't know what I can't find out what I'm doing wrong. Any help?

There is an issue with this game and it has trouble with any processor that has more then one core. The good news is that there is a perma-fix! http://www16.brinkster.com/salvage/thief/darkengine.htm Follow the instructions and enjoy this classic game! This fix also works for Thief 2 and for System Shock 2.

when i click the setup.exe in the file...once it hits 91% it asks for the thief gold disc 2 and lets me browse through the files...what should i do or which one is it?

it works, you just need to run it in software mode (unless you have a really, really old computer). looks like ****, but it's not like it would look that great with hardware acceleration - it's a decade old after all. My biggest problem was installing it, it wouldn't let me at first. I was able to do it through a command line: Setup.exe -LGNTFORCE

Installing any crack causes cutscenes to not work. when I say any I mean the one included, or another one I found on the internet, results in the cutscenes not working. They just get skipped over. If you don't install the cracks, just mount the image every time you play, the cutscenes will work. Though the crack does get rid of CD checks, I'd rather see the cutscenes.

Never mind. Cutscenes only work the first time you play after installing. If you exit, then start up the game again, cutscenes get skipped over. Also. game does not work at all. When I click "Continue" to start a mission, the game just crashes. Unless anyone can provide a solution, I'm gonna say don't download to this.
