Same problem as many above. Cannot get mapsource to recognise and open image files in TOPO GB. How do I do this?

hi ragdoll, i've downloaded 'Garmin Topo Great Britain v2.exe' fine and installed it, but when i try and run 'mapsource.exe' from the my programs list, mapsource.exe is not there. any ideas on how to get it to work? Cheers

Yeh Installed Mapsource ok great. Installed Topo Ok MAps ok. But when I open Mapsource all I get is the world base Map Cant seem to find the Topo Label you speak about. All I can get is World Map or No Map So how do I run the UK Topo Maps On Mapsource Am I being Thick

Struggling to get mapsource to recognise the download i go on topo great britain and the map seams pritty poor,not like on garmin site or as discribed(no detail at all).i dont think its the same. any1 who had probs and worked it out please help me.... its seams like the same probs a few ppl have had,but they worked it out and i can't. ta ppl.

Thanks for uploading Mapsource Topo. So far I have not seen anyone mention that you will need the actual Mapsource software in order to use the Topo maps. I downloaded this one and it works perfectly with the GB Topo Maps. http://www.mininova.org/tor/515632 Just select "Topo Great Britian" instead of "Worlnd Map" using the tab at the top. Cheers.

Have downloaded mapsource and installed and ragdolls software and installed. Mapsource reports problem with TOPO GB installation and does not run, asks for re-installation. Any suggetions welcomed.

I have this problem as well. I have deleted and reinstalled everything but I still have this problem. I am using Mapsource version 6.14.1. Is it my version of Mapsource that is the problem? Please help. Thanks.

Uninstalled both mapsource and topo gb. Installed an older version of mapsource, 6136, and reinstalled both. Works fine now. Thanks to all for comments.

Me too. Finally managed to load mapsource after deleting a later version and all registry entries then reinstalling an older version as suggested above. Topo then worked fine. Thanks to you all.

Ok I have found out that ragdolls download is not the complete download which is why it has no tracks. Maybe its not version 2 ? I have downloaded a locked version of v2 maps from elsewhere and you can see the tracks. I wondered if you could use the complete map images with this cracked install, it seems you can do this to view them on the p.c. But cant transfer them to the device. Anyone any ideas of how to get round this?

Thanks, great upload For those that may have problems sending the map to the GPS unit: You need garmin mapsource installed on your PC. Then install the map files. You won't see anything different - no shortcuts, no new applications. Don't worry. Run Mapsource. There is a drop down menu on the top left corner of Mapsource. Select Topo. If the maps are correctly installed, you will see the map in the main window. That map is actually made up of all the img files you just installed. Click/highlight on an area of the map and you will see the name of the map file(s) appear in the window to the left when you select the 'Maps' tab. It's easy to do that if you zoom out so you can see bigger areas. You can then connect your GPS and send the selected Map files to it.

the maps loaded fine. Thanks Ragdoll However I am not seeing paths etc. I want to use this for off road mountain biking,so it woudl be really usefull and from what i can understand from garmin the maps do show them. Am I missing something? Is it a parameter in mapsource (I cant see one) Anyone help? cheers HotRod

Im not sure if u can use auto routing with TOPO maps mabe someone can correct me on this but i use Metro Guide v9 and a prog called metrogold mapsource.exe and gives my Etrex Vista full auto routing

Yeah i know what u mean until i installed metrogoldMapsource.exe all the data calculation boxes were greyed out but it now works with metroguide only. Would love it if anyone could work out how to get it to work with TOPO maps. I think what u are telling me etrexer is that it might be the version of TOPO on here that is the prob. On the up side I suppose autorouting is pretty important at street level ie metroguide at least that works. I use memory-map to plot most of my trail route's also its amazing how handy google earth can be somtimes dont u think lol

Forrest Make sure you have selected TOPT GREAT BRITAIN at top left of your mapsource prog. if all else fails try a re install. Coz this version is deffo unlocked

I have a GPS device with the americas basemap on it. I have never installed the program Mapsource, onto my PC. This download contains a load of .img files. Im having the same problem as some others with your second upload - Downloaded the exe - Installed to a folder the image files but The map Source program will not load the image files, it says they are invalid. Any help would be appreciated

Sorted works fine just need to click on the maps tab, and not file and open. The maps were there all the time.

Yes, the map files are not directly loaded into the software by you. You don't need to be concerned with those .IMG files at all. Just select the product map from within the mapsource.exe program. Enjoy! Flexwing! ... Glad you like the torrent. I think it is pretty useful for xc and finding takeoff sites. Maybe its time to go rigid
