i just watched this on SHOWTIME. this documentry proves without a doubt the 'drug war' is an over bloated monstrosity. d/l, burn this to disk and pass out copies to everybody in town so they can have their eyes opened to the truth.

atom224, actually the optium/heroin production in afganistan has multiplied 4 or 5 fold since our invasion. i believe the numbers go something like this for afganistans opium production: before the invasion they produced about half of the worlds heroin. since the invasion, afganistan produces upwards of 80-90% of the worlds heroin/opium. A LOT OF GOOD WE DID OVER THERE!!!

In my area of San Diego county, there has been a huge increase in heroin and Oxycontin/Oxycodone within the last 6 months to a year. I've seen so many kids get hooked. According to a doctor friend of mine, the biggest problem with this new drug influx is that the law enforcement has caused the potency of the heroin to jump, meaning that kids are getting better stuff, cheaper. He says he's treated kids who are getting fully addicted just by smoking or snorting small amounts. Generally, you build up tolerance by smoking it, and then you must inject it. However, it seems this isn't the case anymore.

Or as Noam Chomsky says (paraphrase).. if the stated goals of the war on drugs are not being achieved, and yet more money is spent every year with worsening results, is it not the case therefore that the actual stated goals are not the true goals.
