this one is the first season. I think it's just called, ghost in the shell: stand alone complex. I too had VLC player for my mac and i figured out why it didn't play with subtitles! i had a old version of VLC. i just picked up 9.9a for my intel based mac and it works great.

well bs player sux i used to have it too but it had many problems u can use GOM player and it works really nice and its also completly free (no pro version and stuff that require *****) and thx for the upload

Check if it has both. Some video files have 2 languages you can switch between. See if it has english as a choice under audio or some similar option.
