It could be that The game connected to the internet if that happens microsoft can tell that its a fake activation. configure your firewall to not let it connect next time you install it. Good luck!

yeah I tried it and i'm able to play past the first level - finally. So yeah, all you have to do is put this file in the folder where Halo 2 is installed. Mine still asked me for an activation key when I started it, but I simply x-ed out of that, and I was still able to play all the levels. However, I haven't figured out how to run Live properly yet. Any thing I should be aware of, l33tm0d2? Thanks for the upload though.

It aint working 4 me on vista just says that an file is missing and then it crashes...

I used this and now i can play past the first level fine in vista. It just said that there was an error in MFPlat.dll and crashed. So I looked around and found a copy of it here. http://www.dlldump.com/download-dll-files_new.php/dllfiles/M/MFPLAT.dll/11.0.5358.4827/download.html I replaced it with the screwed up one in the game directory and now it works fine.
