Unsure About The Files You've Just Downloaded?

If you want to know what type of files you downloaded, you need to know the extension. If you can't see the extension on a file, go to my computer, tools, folder options, select the view tab, and make sure your computer is showing you hidden files, and that the 'Hide Extensions for Known File Types' is unchecked.

Now that you can see the extensions, you should fiddle with your viewing. I recommend viewing all files in details mode, with the column containing the name wide enough to see the entire file name and extension, and if you're using icon view, your computer may crash.
