What is X-Factor and why this show is so popular?
X-Factor is the vocal competition, or other words an interactive reality TV talent show. Originally broadcast on British channel ITV. Shaw is the original for an international franchise, which is bought by almost every country (top-rated in Denmark, the Netherlands, India, Portugal, Colombia, Spain and Italy). The project has become the biggest television talent competition in Europe. The winner receives a contract with the label Syco worth 1 million.
During the contestants selection is recorded primarily vocal, but also the appearance, personal characteristics and choreographic skills. The most important argument - the favor of spectators.
The competition was divided into three categories: singers 16 - 24 years, singers from 25 years and older vocal groups and duets. Later, the age limit lowered to 14 years.
The competition takes place in several stages:
1. Listening, being producers: they decide who will evaluate the judges (in the last season came to a casting over 200 000 interested)
2. Listening by the judges
3. Accommodation in special homes (suburban villas)
4. Visit to the homes of judges
5. Final live concerts

- Louis Walsh - music manager
- Paula Abdul (only 3 series) - pop singer, dancer and TV personality
- Dannii Minogue (few series) - pop singer
X-Factor presenters and coaches: Kate Thornton, Dermot O'Leary, Brian Friedman, Yvie Burnett, Peter Dickson and Enn Reitel. These people became an inevitable part of the show, providing it participants with vocal, choreography and actors skills.
On 29 May 2006 The X Factor organized a Battle of the Stars - celebrity special edition of The X Factor, which screened on ITV. Among popular singers were: Michelle Marsh, Nikki Sanderson, Matt Stevens, Lucy Benjamin, Gillian McKeith, Chris Moyles, Paul Daniels and Debbie McGee, James Hewitt and Rebecca Loos, and "The Chefs", a quartet of celebrity chefs comprising Jean-Christophe Novelli, Aldo Zilli, Paul Rankin and Ross Burden.
The winner of this unusual show edition became Lucy Benjamin.
The final sixth season of the British show "X factor" have watched over 15.5 million viewers. Thus, the episode was broadcast in the slot at 19:30-21:30 Sunday, December 13th, brought the proportion of 53% (4 +), and at the peak (time of announcement of the winner, 21:15) - 19 million viewers. Such indicators are the highest in the history of the show in the UK.
Until last Sunday in record numbers for the fifth season finale was considered "X factor", which gathered 13.2 million viewers (14 million at the peak). However, most rating shows on British TV remains "Britain's Got Talent", the third season finale is May 30 gathered 17.3 million viewers (19.2 million at the peak), becoming the most successful program on TV since 2004 (presentation England at Euro 2004).
