Woman in black, movie review
Young Arthur Kipps London lawyer (Daniel Radcliffe), after his wife died in childbirth falls into depression, which is detrimental to his career. His last chance - a trip to the estate of IL March somewhere in East Anglia. The estate is located in the swamps, on a piece of land, which becomes an island in the tide - a perfect trap, which promptly gets Kipps. Local residents, including attorney Jerome (Tim MakMullan), Kipps trying to send back to London, local moneybags Daly (Kyaran Hinds), by contrast, helps a visitor. Meanwhile, in the house are found ghosts and in the town - dying children, and Kipps tries to understand the dark secrets of IL March.
Of course, the main advantage and disadvantage of "Women in Black" is that it is a film with Daniel Radcliffe. "The boy who survived," became a young man who tries to prove that on the role of Harry Potter his career is not over. In this sense, a trip to Il Marsh - and his chance, though, of course, not the last. Radcliffe switches all over the viewer's attention, but it is worth to his credit, kept a stiff upper lip - by the middle of the picture you forget about Harry Potter and watch Arthur Kipps.
"The Woman in Black" - a picture in which the plot is secondary, but the entourage is primary. The plot of the thriller, say so, is plain, but the film is shot beautifully, rich in fine detail, provided with excellent music, Marco Beltrami ("Scream," "Resident Evil" and so on), and pretty scary. Yes, the techniques, which enjoys full swing producer, have become classics, but the operator Tim Maurice-Jones (who shot classics Guy Ritchie) plays them with great skill. Rightfully deserve applause and artists who have made a picture juicy, dark and truly unforgettable - it wants to stare, it attracts your attention, because the next "Boo!" is particularly impressive.
Another plus, in my opinion - "child" rating. In the film, there is almost no blood or terrible monsters, it is aesthetic, it even can be called intelligent. All evidence of good taste makers.
"The Woman in Black" - a classic example of stories about ghosts, horror, and combining certain theatricality, it is in the tradition of gothic novels. Even if the main role is not starred Daniel Radcliffe, "Woman in Black" could be recommended, including, and not lovers of the genre.
Mirror Mirror, movie review
Indian filmmaker Tarsus Singh gave his adaptation of the infamous tale, trying to maintain a balance between comedy and drama. In the picture there are funny moments of dark elements of the plot, giving a very fresh look at history, we all know very well.
An evil queen wants to love the beautiful Prince, expelling Snow White from the palace. But the girl is not from timid. Her allies are funny gnomes and robbers, but a goal - revenge and restore justice.
Julia Roberts in the role of the Evil Queen, which is almost the best actress in Hollywood and is simply delicious. So much so that even though it is essentially a secondary character in the film, she is still possible to chain almost all of the viewer's attention. She can be as fun, with an innocent smile, and cruel and ruthless. Even in scenes with humor the audience does not leave the impression that the Queen is very dangerous. If you do not believe that Julia Roberts is able to portray the villain, then you'll be pleasantly surprised and impressed by her acting.
The role of Snow White, whose "hair, is black as night" and "skin as white as snow" went to Lily Collins - a young actress with a relatively small track record (she played in "Shepherd" and "Pursuit"), but despite this, she played her character very convincingly, and thanks to some new plot moves almost helped us to show Snow White on the other side. In her attempt to take revenge on the queen, she learned to fence and climb trees better than any actor who played Tarzan.
Generally, some may not like that adaptation is very different from the original source. As such, the fact that the gnomes here are not just hard workers, and a gang of thieves, who were engaged in pious deeds are not, or what the Queen wanted to poison Snow White was not because of her alien beauty. But these innovations and make watching the movie even more interesting. Indeed, sometimes very boring to know in advance that eventually will happen in the next scene.
In the visualization of scenes Tarsus Singh always had good result, it is enough to recall his psychological thriller "The Cage". Surreal colors incredibly beautiful costumes and the atmosphere is present here, but all in moderation. The director does not let himself get carried away, as Tim Burton's "Alice in Wonderland," which was a great picture, but still more "picture of Tim Burton's" rather than adaptation of Lewis Carroll tale. Here you can feel the original Grimm's fairy tales with just the free interpretation of the director on some of the events. In particular, peculiar, and some Indian films.
Outcome. A remarkable example of comedy, fantasy and drama. All elements of the film run very smoothly, help you get from watching a real pleasure. He just hit a key positive. The picture does not claim the title of a masterpiece, but only leaves a good impression.
“Hugo”, movie review
The boy orphan Hugo lives in a small room in the Paris train station. All day long he was watching undergoing people, where everyone has their own thoughts, feelings and goals, whether it's florist, head of the station cafe with a cute little dog in her arms, a librarian or a lame stationmaster. Only occasionally Hugo secretly sneaks through the crowd and the smoke from the arriving train to find some food and, most importantly, find the missing parts of a very mysterious invention, which once he with his father found in the walls of the city museum.
Before us is a wonderful story where the boy with beautiful blue eyes, innocent, was a link between past and present, between reality and dreams. In this case, filled with fairy-tale movie, where the word fairy tale ends just as the opening credits end, we learn from the inside of what it means to lose something that truly love, and most importantly how to fix within a internal clock mechanism, which lacks only a couple of parts to restore its once-forgotten "I". It's easy slyness of the director with the children's hopes and disappointments, under cover of a Christmas tale, the audience dipped into a thin story about people who love what for them was the meaning of life. No wonder more than once spend an internal parallel with the Polish animated short film "Cinema", which lasts only 12 minutes, but with these minutes reveal the hopes and dreams of a man who puts his life into something that truly loves - in the movies.
Everyone remembers and knows the Lumiere brothers, but how many remember and know those of others who stood at the sources, developed the first steps in making a real run with a distance of "The Future". This film Martin Scorsese removed for all those who love the movie wholeheartedly, as if each shot bringing tribute to all those who once upon a time gave people an opportunity to plunge into something unforgettably beautiful. Something great, thanks to which we can dream, idealize, admire, feel illusion, disappointed, afraid to wait for a happy ending and just keep what each of us dearly. Keep time!
“Tower Heist” movie review
The Tower - a luxury residential skyscraper in downtown of New York. The average cost of an apartment there is about 5.6 million dollars. "The Tower" just bustles with cameras and is full of support staff, whose main task - taking care of skyscraper inhibitors. Penthouse of the "Tower" is occupied by one of the largest financiers of America, Arthur Shaw (Alan Alda). Once, at the request of the manager Josh Kovacs (Ben Stiller) passed into the hands of Shaw taking care of the pension fund of all employees.
But the financier was not the most honest man that had tried to prove the FBI at the legislative level, but the court was very humane in respect of its influential "client". So a good amount of dollars turned out to be unattainable for ordinary people to altitude. And that's why people had been deceived to solve their own problems in the spirit of the old and kind Robin Hood (which, incidentally, the film does not forget to mention).
The comedy is spiced with bright and colorful characters that make up the backbone of the whole picture, creates exactly atmosphere that captivates the audience of "Tower heist". A welcoming, pleasant atmosphere of mutual support and passion that forces people sitting in the hall alternately laugh, empathize and enjoy the characters on the screen is surprisingly alive and real, in a fit of despair, uniting their forces to the unequal struggle against a common enemy. Incidentally, this is great inspiration, and do not share the joy of the characters in the film successful isolation is simply unrealistic.
In "Tower Heist" the hero of Murphy, with all his flightiness and cunning, with all his improvisation is a kind of counterbalance to the hero of Stiller, prudently, and most of the time, concentrated. Charming, even though some offenses (not to mention his principal "profession"). Needless to say that a good half of the humor in the film is revolve around him.
True, there are some logical inconsistencies, but so slight that you remember about them just as you get home. And, even though they, Happy End does not seem far-fetched, and quite a plausible, and seemingly, a sad little note, which gives it all a bit more realism, not depressing. Rather, it was still too small, which, however, the film does not hurt.
Tim Burton will work with FOX again
Studio 20th Century Fox and Chernin Entertainment company asked Tim Burton to design and make a film on the book by Ransom Riggs' "Miss Peregrine House for special children". The film rights of the original novel were acquired in the spring of this year.
Jacob passed his childhood under the grandfather's stories about a shelter for unusual children. Among its residents a girl who knew how to handle fire, the girl whose feet do not touch the ground, invisible boy, and the twins, who were able to communicate without words. When the grandfather dies, 16-year-old Jacob receives a mysterious letter and sent to the island where his grandfather grew up. There he finds the children who had seen only in photographs.
The book has many pictures that are simply being asked to come to life on the screen under the direction of the chief specialist of Hollywood. It is interesting that Burton did not work with studio Fox after the failure of his staging of "Planet of the Apes." When the director was asked if he would like to shoot the sequel, Tim replied, "I better get out of the window." But now Fox released "Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter" by Timur Bekmambetov, where Burton was listed as producer, so it is likely that the relationship with Tim has been changed.
Now Tim Burton directs putting the finishing touches on the painting "The dark shadow," which premiered on 10 May, well in the autumn of next year, on the screens will be released an animated film "Frankenweenie" based on the eponymous short film of director.
Trailer for the book is as follows:
Movie review “In Time”
The main character, Will Salas (Justin Timberlake), by reason of his own boundless generosity (apparently, he grafted his father) saves the wealthy Henry Hamilton (Matthew Bomer) from the "watchmen" - micro-analog of organized crime, not very good people who steal people's time. But it turns out that Hamilton himself, who is 105 years old, not eager to move on, because it just so bored with the seemingly fascinating process. Omitting some details, our hero, the other day, who lost mother (Olivia Wilde), resulting gets 116 years and the money, goes to the city center, the seat of power and time of the haves, the desire to be burnt by the justice and years of life to the masses.
Oh yeah, almost forgot - he's learned the truth, that, say, it is enough time for everybody. Just greedy grabbers snickering do not want to share, because the "immortality is chosen lives of ordinary people."
In short, "In Time" is suffering from a variety of details relating to the main logical component of the film. But there is a painting and one major drawback - it is completely filled up the idea. The idea, apparently, was not just good - it was beautiful. With such a plot it will be able to catch few important awards. But, certainly good attempt to combine dynamism with philosophical delights, Niccol, as often happens when chasing two hares at, stayed out of work.
But let's leave buried meaning under the weight of traffic. Another thing that is unpleasant affects in "Time" - a terrifying absence of thorough the world, which naturally leads to a decrease in believability. In addition to the unusual currency, the only thing that separates what is happening on the screen of what is happening in real life - is the speed of gait characters in different parts of the city. Alas, but that's all. Honestly, I really expected to see the future, with a capital letter. No, I do not mean flying cities and teleportation station, I mean pretty much what it was in "I, Robot" Alex Proyas, "Equilibrium" by Kurt Wimmer, or at least in the "Island" by Michael Bay. At least some little futuristic drop. Yes, even to design cars have changed, so we should not dream of transforming the characters around the world!
Fortunately, the film is stretched in places on its actors. This is, first of all, Justin Timberlake, again proving his acting worth. We can not, however, call his game very different, sometimes he exaggerates the drama, but does his role as it is more than worthy. Another is "tractor" can be named Cillian Murphy, who plays a conditional antagonist, a faithful guardian of their work time.
In spite of its infinite potential, "Time" is not an outstanding film, which boasts perhaps that its eyeballs. Completely bungled idea, ending mess of Robin Hood and our refined version of Bonnie and Clyde, to the finale was unscrupulously ousted sluggish action.

“Larry Crown” review
Larry Crown (Tom Hanks) - not the young but promising seller, satisfied with his work in a supermarket. However, the image of his life changes after he falls under the roller ruthless downsizing. The reason for his dismissal is his lack of higher education, as after school, he immediately went into the navy, where stayed for long twenty years. After several unsuccessful attempts to find a job again (the mortgage has not been canceled), he nevertheless decided to catch up, because of what and to easy back to business - studying in college.
I must say that it was not Tom Hanks's debut as a director. In addition to staging several separate series of variegated serials at his credit is already a full-length work "What are you doing!". But, alas, Hanks is not able to surpass himself: a new picture appeared on the order of magnitude weaker creation in 1996.
"Larry's Crown" though positioned itself as a romantic comedy. But, this is certainly a romantic film, with rather poor comedy element. Writers clearly wanted to show imagination in regard to humor, which turned out too soft and unobtrusive: rare unconcealed correspondence on lectures by SMS (with its consequences), a pair of characters with fun speech courses and "dance" in front of the door of his teacher - it does not rate a full-fledged comedy. All this underscores the excessive "good-naturedly" of the movie.
As for the peculiar "sending" of the film, which consists in the premise that higher education - this is very useful and necessary for all (by the way, Hanks does not share this opinion), it lost another half-way to the final. In semantic terms the film failed, and all because this is the thesis throughout the tape and so nothing is not confirmed. And whether it's an original plot device, either plot flaw, but "Happy End" has turned out rather ambiguous, as if this ending left-over.
Fortunately, the strength of the movie began its cast, because it is only on it and holds on. And I mean not the number of celebrities on the half-hour film (which there are only two), and the quality of actors’ play. Almost all of them came to be extremely charismatic, never felt busting, no replays. Most of the characters have their own, clearly pronounced, from a black neighbor-huckster with a truly Jewish stranglehold pompous and conceited to the economics professor with a very peculiar sense of humor and tact. Here, I can’t stay more detail on the two central characters: Larry Crown and Taynot Mercedes, one of his professors, played by Julia Roberts.
In general, "Larry Crown" - nothing outstanding, too "good" and sometimes boring movie, which only pulled its well-chosen cast and qualitatively chosen characters. If you want to look at the agonies and the "catastrophe of middle age" of an ordinary American - it is worth to watch this movie.
Mr. Popper’s Penguins, review
Mr. Popper - a talented and successful real estate agent, as well as potential director of a major campaign. He is divorced and has two children and luxurious apartments in the heart of New York. And his father had recently died, which he had seen only few times in his life. No, his father was not, like him, divorced. Simply, he was an avid traveler and gifted zoologist. And the only thing he left before his death to his beloved child, was a large parcel with a penguin. And now a life of promising businessman changed abruptly ...
Humor in this film - a parody of the crumpled "classics" of the genre. Few times there are really funny moments. The only thing that brightens it - this is Jim Carrey himself, who with his, no doubt, a wonderful game of trying to somehow draw a picture to an acceptable level for comedy. Unfortunately, even his antics, bored, after all, his film looks very familiar, if not - is trivial.
Apart from him, from the cast, I would also like to mention Angela Lansbury. She, in spite of a short screen time, managed to bring in a picture of a drop of English elegance, charm.
The very same movie (and especially humor) affects its predictability. In general, it is difficult to predict how the story will develop, what will be result and how it will react to the surrounding. From all this it can be identified unless the changes in the apartment itself of Popper who was not only unexpected, but quite amusing and even beautiful. It was a pleasant surprise from the makers, though not for long lived on the screen.
In general, do not expect anything original or interesting adaptation of a children's book, which in America is taught in the elementary grades. If you have kids or little brothers and sisters, takes them to this movie: I have no doubt that they will like it, and they will leave cinema happy. If you do want to go for good, but poorly-developed children's comedy, it is best to turn into the next room at the "Transformers" or "Bad teacher." From them you get much more fun.
